Tadcaster Albion’s U21’s ran riot on Tuesday night against Brighouse Town to keep the pressure on league leaders Harrogate Town.

Michael Morton and Si Collins’ side sit twelve points behind the leaders with four games in hand and still to play each other for a second time so it could well make for an interesting final month of the season.

Mitch Langton and Fraser Papprill were given game time at York St John’s Haxby Road Complex as the Brewers threatened early doors.

Sticking with the theme of nine, they broke the deadlock on nine minutes when Sean Hunter broke the offside trap, manoeuvred the ball inside the last defender and caressed home on his favoured left-foot.

Taddy were two to the good six minutes later as Sean Hunter’s strike was well saved after the forward surged in behind again but Ed Jackson followed up and saw his effort deflect into the back of the net.

The young Brewers were well and truly dominant as the game was effectively all over as a contest on 17 minutes when Hunter hammered in his second.

Donald Chimalilo was causing the visitors all kinds of problems as the tricky winger turned opposition players inside and out time and time again. After going on another tantalisingly twisty run, Chimalilo almost added a fourth but he fired narrowly wide.
Sean Hunter continued to exploit the generous amount of space in behind Town’s back-line but he couldn’t quite complete his first half hat-trick firing off target with his weaker right-foot before seeing his strike tipped onto the post.

It was a matter of ‘how many’ for Taddy as Ed Jackson extended their lead further and his personal tally for the night to two as he fired a free-kick low into the bottom corner.

They added a fifth before the half closed out as Matty Savage slid Hunter down the right-wing and the tall central midfielder couldn’t miss from just a few yards out after continuing his run and turning in his teammates cross.

Brighouse came close to pulling back a consolation right on the stroke of half-time but Nick Lock produced a brilliant point blank save to keep his clean sheet intact.

However the Albion keeper was in clear discomfort after making the save and it turned out that Lock had dislocated his finger and couldn’t continue. With no outfielder on the bench, Kieron Holmes was the volunteer to put the gloves on and go between the sticks.

The change didn’t disrupt the flow of the game though as Taddy continued where they left off with Max Tweddle checking back onto his left-foot and curling into the bottom corner.

In the reverse fixture this season, it took the Brewers a long time to break Brighouse down and overturn a 1-0 deficit to come away 1-2 winners but it was a completely different story on this occasion.

Town’s stopper made some very good saves in the second half as Hunter, Chimalilo and Tom Scrowston all went close to furthering their lead.

Having said that goal number seven came shortly after the hour mark and it was a delightful move from the promising youngsters.

Mitch Langton fizzed in to Hunter who opened up his body and side-footed into the path of substitute Kain Rogerson who drove in on goal before finding the back of the net.

Max Tweddle added a second to his name on 78 minutes as his left-foot found the perfect touch once again driving precisely into the bottom corner from 20 yards.

The resounding scoreline was rounded off six minutes from time when Mitch Langton beautifully skipped inside a trailing defender inside the penalty area before sliding into the net coolly.
