Tadcaster Albion’s U21’s made it six wins out of six in the West Riding County FA U21’s Premier Division after edging past Ossett Albion in their toughest test yet.

It was an uncharacteristically slow start from Morton and Collins’ boys as the visitors started much the brighter at the i2i stadium.

First-teamer Adam Baker was handed a start up front due to being ineligible for the Tuesday night West Riding County Cup tie at Barnoldswick Town.

And the former Bradford City pro threatened early on firing narrowly off target twice in the opening quarter of an hour.

The Ossett goalkeeper was yet to be tested as defender Kieran Holmes was next to shoot off target, this effort much closer however.

It was an even start to the contest on a freezing and bitterly cold evening and Ossett were giving the young Brewers plenty to think about.

Taddy had the ball in the net on the twenty minute mark as Ryan Woodhead side-footed in at the back post only for the referee to disallow the goal for an alleged push from Adam Baker.

As Albion felt aggrieved, the other Albion went up and did in fact open the scoring, through a large slice of fortune.

A low skimming free-kick took a wicked deflection and somehow managed to squeeze under goalkeeper Joe Wilton.

The promising youngsters found themselves in unfamiliar territory and almost found themselves two goals behind after half an hour.

Ossett struck on the counter attack and as the forward took it round goalkeeper Wilton, messrs Holmes and Papprill just about recovered to block what looked to be a certain goal.

This portion of defending proved to be even more important when Taddy did draw level seven minutes from the half-time interval.

The Ossett stopper fumbled a ferocious low cross and Adam Baker simply turned in from close range.

And Tadcaster took full control ten minutes into the second half when they took the lead. A corner kick was flicked on and turned in by the towering defender Fraser Papprill.

Ossett introduced a First-teamer of their own at the break bringing on the lively Sanchez Payne and he came extremely close to making it ‘Desmond’ half-way through the second half when he struck the face of the post.

The visitors continued to look dangerous going forward but it was indeed the Brewers who netted the fourth goal of the game which effectively sealed the points.

And it was by far the best goal of the night. Chimalilo played in Adam Baker down the right-hand side who returned the favour and Donald Chimalilo waltzed into the penalty area before lashing an unstoppable strike into the bottom corner.

And Tadcaster added a fourth in the final minute as Casey Stewart helped himself to his 11th goal of the season, in just six games, a remarkable return so far.

Great credit to Ossett Albion though who put in a tremendous effort and the score line doesn't quite reflect the true nature of the game.
