The Brewers looked to have come away with three points thanks to Des Amponsah’s 29th minute strike but for a 95th minute equaliser from Laurence Sorhaindo.
John Deacey made one change from the side that drew at Cleethorpes Town two weeks ago, with Romario Vieira replaced by Dan Hartley due to a suspension for accumulating five yellow cards.
The hosts were on the front foot from the off with a succession of corners in the opening ten minutes which all failed to trouble Ally Hughes in the Taddy goal.
Tad had their first effort of the game seven minutes in; Freddie Sass shot with his right foot comfortably taken by Brett Souter with the strike lacking the power to trouble the keeper. Three minutes later Des Amponsah hit a tame shot at the keeper as Tadcaster began to grow into the game.
The Brewers started to edge what had been an even game midway through the first half, but Deacey’s side were not clicking in the final third with a number of passes going astray as they tried to create openings. Corey Roper curled a strike from outside the box into the keeper’s hands after 22 minutes with Albion putting more pressure on.
Brighouse were not without their attacks; Shiraz Khan flashed a cross-shot which Hughes helped over the bar.
In the 29th minute Tadcaster broke the deadlock; Donald Chimalilo danced past his man on the right flank, delivered a perfect low pass for Eddie Church who, with a deft flick was denied by the keeper but up popped Amponsah to fire home. 0-1.
Two minutes later Chimalilo again weaved his way in and out, taking on three defenders, his eventual effort deflected wide for a corner. Said corner was taken short as Chimalilo picked out Jack Crook but his header lacked power and the keeper claimed.
Just under ten minutes before the break the impressive Kieran Burton made a fantastic block-tackle to deny Elliot Harrison who had found space in the Taddy box.
Tad went into the break with the lead having edged a very even first 45 minutes.
Brighouse, like the first half, came out strongly and five minutes into the second forty-five, Hughes was called into action, getting down well to his right to keep the Brewers ahead.
The hosts kept the pressure on with a succession of corners which Taddy managed to deal with but the waves of attack were mounting. Khan was involved again, popping up on the right this time, he cut inside but his shot was well saved by Hughes who got down to his left to push around the post.
In the 68th minute Manager Deacey made his first substitution seeing Charlie Marshall replace Chimalilo who had worked hard up and down the wing. Two minutes later Roper delivered an inch perfect cross from a free kick for Crook who headed over.
With under 20 minutes to go it was all Brighouse putting pressure on Tad again - Hughes was out effectively to smother an effort to keep the lead intact.
In the last ten minutes the Brewers managed to get out using the wings to better effect and mustered a couple of efforts. Skipper Simon Russell half volleyed wide of the far post whilst Marshall was next , having turned well in the box ,only to see his left footed shot deflected to safety. Both efforts not too far away.
Less than five minutes before the end Hughes again stayed big at this near post to deny Brighouse who were continually knocking on the door.
Tadcaster forced a late corner which almost brought a spectacular goal as Kesi Omolokun tried a bicycle kick but the effort was narrowly off target.
Then came heartbreak for Tadcaster in added time on top of the additional four minutes, Brighouse delivered a free kick which was headed across goal and Sorhaindo fired a volley into the corner to level the game. 1-1.
Following the goal Brighouse looked to get on the attack again. Sass was shown a second yellow card with the hosts pushing forward, but Tad cleared to come away with a point in a hard-fought, battling display at St Giles Road.
The result sees Tadcaster maintain their unbeaten record under John Deacey but with most teams at the foot of the league doing well, The Brewers are 15th. Next week they travel to newcomers, Stockton Town, for a 3.00 pm kick off
Hughes, Hartley, Omolokun, Burton, Sass, Roper, Russell(Papprill), Crook, Amponsah, Church, Chimalilo(Marshall).
Subs not used: Davison-Hale, Ejupi, Deacey.
