John Deacey Makes It Two Wins in Two Since Taking the Helm .

The Brewers made it back-to-back wins with a resounding triumph over Pontefract in an entertaining Yorkshire derby.

Jack Crook was one of two changes made by John Deacey replacing the departed Marco Basic. The other change saw Frazier Papprill injured last week, drop out for Freddie Sass.

Buoyed by their win last weekend against Bridlington Town, the Brewers made a fast start to the game with the skipper Simon Russell and Eddie Church making inroads in behind the Pontefract defence. However the hosts were first to try their luck on goal seven minutes in when a delivery into the box was half cleared by Tadcaster before Luke Hinsley managed to hook an effort well over the bar.

Five minutes later Tad had their first effort on goal; Donald Chimalilo's curling strike was not far off finding the net after good work from Romario Vieira to win the ball. A minute later Pontefract saw a deflected shot cleared away well by Freddie Sass.

As the game approached the twenty-minute mark the Brewers started to get into their stride, linking up with one-twos in and around the box. Russell was the next to try his luck from outside the box but like Chimalilo’s, was slightly off target.

27 minutes in Tadcaster were awarded a penalty. Russell sprung the offside trap, something he and Church had been threatening all game - the skipper clipped the ball in for Church who beat the keeper to the ball but was clattered as the referee pointed to the spot. Up stepped Vieira who, with a hop, skip and a jump, coolly slotted the ball away to put Taddy ahead, netting his second from the spot in two games. 0-1.

In the 34th minute Tad struck their second. Again, Russell got in behind, out wide this time - he looked up and squared for Church who just could not stretch to tap in, but the forward kept the move alive before finding Des Amponsah who converted to put Tad two to the good. 0-2.

In the 43rd minute Vieira had his second of the game making it back-to-back braces for the right back. A brilliantly struck free kick found the corner after the Ponte keeper was judged to have picked up the ball just outside the box. 0-3.

Due to the penalty and free kick stoppages, there was almost five minutes of additional time in the first half, enough for Tad added a fourth. Crook was played in out wide with plenty of space ahead of him, the midfielder then crossed for Church who controlled and on the half turn fired into the top corner capping a brilliantly clinical first half from Tadcaster.0 - 4

The Brewers were not looking to just see the game out after building an unassailable lead. Five minutes into the second half Chimalilo almost found the top corner with a curling effort, but it was not to be.

As the half wore on Pontefract were beginning to have more of the play despite not managing to force the issue. Harrison Davison-Hale who had largely been a spectator in the match took a dangerous cross to relieve some of the pressure on the Tadcaster defence.

In the 63rd minute Charlie Marshall, who had joined in the week from Liversedge, was brought on to replace Chimalilo. Two minutes later the Brewers scored their fifth with Church again on the scoresheet. A fantastic ball from Corey Roper put Church in behind again, the striker then lifted the ball over the keeper expertly. 0 - 5.

With that game all but sewn up Deacey made his final two changes; Crook and Amponsah were replaced by Rinor Ejupi and the returning Dan Hartley.

With 15 minutes left the hosts pulled one back, Gavin Rothery managing to get space on the edge of the box before his strike found the top corner. In the 84th minute Church almost got his hattrick, but the keeper produced a brilliant save from point blank range to deny his volley.

There was time for one more chance for Pontefract. Joao Rangel was in one-on-one, but Davison-Hale was out quickly, making himself big and saving the effort.

And that was that. The Brewers picked up the deserved three points in an impressive display at Beechnut Lane.

Next up for Taddy is an away trip to Yorkshire Amateurs on Wednesday in the West Riding County Cup, kick off 7:45pm, whilst next Saturday they resume league action with a trip to Cleethorpes Town KO 3.00 pm.

Davison-Hale, Vieira, Omolokun, Burton, Sass, Roper, Russell, Crook (Hartley), Amponsah (Ejupi), Church, Chimalilo (Marshall)
