Conditions were good after all the rainfall as Tadcaster started the game playing up the pitch. Brewers favourite from a decade ago, Nick Thompson, had signed again during the week and started the match on the bench.
With three minutes on the clock a ball sent in for Worsbrough fell to the edge of the area for Charlie Austerfield who’s powerful strike went through a crowd of bodies and into the right corner of the net with Harry Stead just getting a hand to it but unable to keep it out. 1 - 0.
Curtis Senior landed awkwardly after a challenge and had to be substituted in the 13th minute by Alex Clark, ending his night early.
A few minutes later Jayden Clarke-Thompson cushioned a ball through to Cole Roberts whose shot beat keeper, Owen Evans ,but was miraculously cleared off the line by Jake Holdsworth.
Into the second half and seven minutes after the restart, Worsbrough’s Lance Friedrich got on the end of a loose ball and took it round Stead to convert their second of the game.2-0.
Substitute Aaron Pilkington picked up a booking within two minutes of coming on for a sliding challenge whilst the home side's Isaac Jeffreys then also went into the book for bringing down Clarke-Thomspon after he beaten two defenders on a breakaway.
Tadcaster’s best chance of the game came just after the hour mark with Olly Green breaching the backline and one on one with the keeper, just put it wide.
Pilkington’s night came to a premature end as he committed his third foul since coming on and was given his second booking plus his marching orders with 23 minutes to play.
The resulting free kick was swung in from the left side and nodded in at the back post by substitute Lewis O’Connor giving Worsbrough their third of the evening.3 - 0.
Just four minutes later, Lloyd Smith got on the end of a deflected through ball and took it round Stead to tap in a fourth. 4 - 0.
With four minutes to play Worsbrough tried to take a free kick too quickly but Referee Gareth Brown pulled it back to be retaken with the resulting shot hit by Smith for their fifth. 5 -0.
