Update on Harvey Wrigglesworth

Update on Harvey Wrigglesworth

John Clothier18 Aug - 18:52

It's a Cruel Game!

When we arrived at Penistone last Saturday, we came face to face with one of our trialists who was stretchered off in the 75th minute of our preseason friendly with Bradford Park Avenue. Harvey Wrigglesworth had played in the friendly against his old club, Ossett United, the previous Saturday and had no inkling how cruel our “beautiful” game could be.

He had only been on the pitch for fifteen minutes against BPA when having passed the ball, he put his right foot down on the pitch and literally tore every ligament in his right knee including the Anterior Cruciate Ligament and also the Lateral Cruciate ligament which by itself is rare but along with the ACL, is hardly ever seen.

Football has been a huge part of Harvey’s life since he joined Dinnington Junior FC in Rotherham when just five years of age. By the time he was twelve he had moved on to the youth team at Chesterfield and four years later trialled for ----- Penistone Church”,

He went on to play for Ollerton, then Alfreton Town before the move to Ossett where he first linked up with Ryan Qualter.

Last Saturday Harvey was on crutches following the surgery on the ACL and now has to wait until September/October to have more surgery to repair the Lateral Cruciate Ligament.
With any luck he should be back in training next June!

He cannot wait to return to Taddy
“I really enjoyed my short time with the Brewers – they are a great bunch of lads, Ryan Qualter is a terrific Manager, and I can’t wait to get back.”

We wish you all the best Harvey - you are most welcome any time at the Young Guns Arena whilst you recover.
