Young Squad Put In Exceptional Performance

On Monday evening, The Tadcaster Albion under 23's team had a good 5-0 home victory in a friendly against Garforth Town under 23s. The Young Brewers operate out of Askham Bryan College, York.

In cold but dry conditions, Albion were playing in the first half towards the A64 end. They took the lead in the 11th minute when a fine low shot from the edge of the area by Mitch Georgiou beat the Garforth Town keeper to his right-hand side. Ben Walsh made it 2-0 in the 17th minute with an equally good near post finish from a corner.

It was soon 3-0 as centre half Ryan Flanagan scored with a powerful header again from a corner in the 24th minute. A dream first half was completed as Ben Walsh scored his second of the evening beating the keeper in a one on one in the 37th minute.

The second half was much quieter as Garforth Town upped their game, but the home defence held them at bay. Substitution, Lenni Graveson ,scored with a good firm shot four minutes from the end of the game to make it 5-0.

A fine performance in front of a decent sized crowd of 62 and great learning experience for all the players involved.

Under 23’s Manager, Harrison Hopper, summed up the performance

“The lads performed exceptionally well on Monday night. We controlled the game throughout limiting a good Garforth team to only 1 shot all game and managing to score 5 goals. We played some great football and it was brilliant for the lads to play at the stadium in front of a crowd. A massive thank you to first team gaffer Mick O’Connell and Club Chairman Andy Charlesworth in their help setting up the game. We’ve got a really talented young squad and hopefully a few of them can step up and make an impact with the first team in weeks to come.
