Brewers Bounce Back with Resounding Win Over Magnets.

Following last Saturday’s defeat against Redcar Tadcaster again fielded two different teams per half for the visit of Tadcaster Magnets, who made the extremely short trip to Ings Lane.

In the opening ten minutes Albion were on top without managing to click into gear in the final third. Charlie Jebson-King fired wide after a bobble impeded him, Mark Ferguson also had a sight of goal as he drove into the box but his powerful strike flew wide of the target.

In the 20th minute the Brewers took the lead; Dan Hartley played a brilliant ball over the top for Ferguson who sprinted clear before lifting the ball over the onrushing keeper and then heading into the empty net, 1-0.

Five minutes later Taddy almost got their second; a Ferguson long throw was flicked on by Brett Agnew, arriving at the back post was Jordan Deacey who just could not get the telling touch on the ball.

In the 31st minute Jack Johnson was next to try his luck but he headed wide - unmarked in the box, the defender got good contact on the ball but could not direct the effort on target.

With less than five minutes to go before the break Romario Vieira tried an audacious bicycle kick which was cleared off the line before Agnew fired the rebound over as Tad finished the half in similar style to how they started it.

The half time interval brought about eight changes from John Deacey with only Ryan Musslewhite, Jebson-King and Ferguson remaining on the pitch. Also, like last Saturday, Tadcaster changed strip from yellow to white for the second half.

The hosts again made a fast start to the second forty-five and just after five minutes into the half Jack Crook almost doubled the lead. Following some sharp build up on the right, Ferguson worked room before he delivered, picking out Crook in the centre of the box but he failed to keep his header under the crossbar.

In the 53rd minute Tad and Ferguson had their second. Jebson-King lifted in a cross from a free kick which Ferguson smartly flicked into the far corner with his head, 2-0.

After going two up the Brewers continued to turn the screw and upped the pressure on the Magnets backline.

In the 56th minute Sam Barker came agonisingly close to extending the lead, a deft flick to redirect a Nathan Dyer cross was instinctively saved by the keeper from close range.

A minute later Ferguson departed to be replaced by Agnew who returned to the action and was instantly pressuring the defenders before being brought down in the box . Agnew himself stepped up and made no mistake, powerfully firing into the back of the net, 3-0.

Little after the hour Barker was again denied by the keeper, this time his spectacular volley was brilliantly pushed over the bar after Agnew flicked on Musslewhite’s kick perfectly into the path of the midfielder.

In the 70th minute, looking for his second, Agnew took aim from distance, his effort kicked up off the surface almost catching out the keeper who just managed to divert the ball wide.

From the resulting corner Agnew was again denied by the keeper, a bullet header that looked destined for the back of the net before another good reaction save frustrating the big striker.

In the 72nd minute Agnew rose highest at the back post meeting Cody Cromack’s chipped cross but some brave defending denied the forward once more.

In the 82nd minute Agnew finally got his second; a powerful header which gave the keeper no chance earning the Brewers new forward his third goal in two games, 4-0.

Less than 60 seconds later Cromack capped off an impressive personal and team performance with a stunning strike from distance which flew beyond the keeper, 5-0.

There would be a final chance for Agnew but as the potential of a hattrick lured, the forward saw his final effort saved at the keepers near post after he had risen well to head goalward.

1st half team(yellow): Musslewhite, Dixon, Hartley, Johnson, Howarth, Davidson, Deacey, Vieira, Ferguson, Agnew, Jebson-King.

2nd half team(White): Musslewhite, Godden, Trialist, McGivern, Omolokun, Cromack, Crook, Barker, Dyer, Ferguson(Agnew), Jebson-King(Dixon)
