Strong Performance from Taddy against League High Flyers

The Brewers battle for a well-earned point against high flying Hebburn Town at the "SoTrak" Stadium. Jack Carr’s third goal of the season early in the second half cancelled out Jack Donaghy’s first half opener as the points were shared. John Deacey welcomed Cody Cromack back to the starting line up alongside T’nique Fishley, Dan Hartley, and Matty Dixon who was handed his league debut.

Tadcaster started on the front foot like they did last time out at Brighouse on Monday.
The returning Cody Cromack caught a half volley cleanly, but the strike flew wide of the target in the second minute.

In the fifth minute the visitors had their first effort of the afternoon, Jack Donaghy got free and headed straight at Harry Fisk who caught comfortably.
Sean Reid was next to have an attempt for Hebburn; in the ninth minute the forward headed over from the centre of the box after Oliver Martin picked him out.

In the 13th minute the pendulum swung the way of Tad as Jack Johnson headed on target but a clearance off the line prevented the Brewers from breaking the deadlock.

Down the other end, Reid again found himself in the box heading an effort on goal, this time on target from six yards out but it was easily caught by Fisk 22 minutes in.

Three minutes later Ferguson hit a thunderous volley from inside the box which was headed off the line - Brett Agnew managed to get the follow up but his header looped into the keepers’ hands.

In the 34th minute, a battling Agnew inadvertently flicked a ball on for Carr who drove into the box and let fly powerfully but Shaun Newbrook was equal to it with a one-handed save. It was beginning to look like it was not going to be Tadcaster’s day in front of goal.

After having a number of good chances, in the 35th minute the visitors drew first blood. A free kick from just inside the Tad half found Donaghy who ghosted in at the back post and lashed an unstoppable volley into the far corner, 0-1.

The “Hornets” went looking for a second but in the 42nd minute Fisk was on hand again to deny Reid from point blank range after the Hebburn man was found by William McCamley.

On the stroke of half time Jordan Deacey delivered a deep corner which Carr headed on target but Newbrook caught on his goal line. Moments later Johnson again won his header as the ball looked destined to reach the back of the net with Newbrook rooted, but it was somehow cleared from underneath the bar by a Hebburn defender.

The final action of the half in stoppage time fell to Agnew who had had fleeting sights of goal in the opening 45; he fired inside the box but his shot was charged down as bodies were thrown in the path of the ball.

Tadcaster were again on the front foot in the second half. Dixon delivered a low cross forcing a Hebburn defender to take evasive action clearing over his own bar. The resulting corner was only half cleared by the visitors as the ball fell for Cromack whose shot was deflected into the path of Ferguson who controlled and poked on target but the keeper was equal to it.

Tadcaster levelled the game in the 52nd minute. With Jack Crook on for Cromack, the substitute met Ferguson’s curled delivery nodding back across goal for Carr who bravely headed in at the near post, narrowly avoiding a collision with the upright, 1-1.

Tad created an almost identical chance in the 65th minute as Ferguson delivered a stunning curled cross which somehow evaded everyone in the box bouncing just wide of the far post.
Carr was again involved as The Brewers looked for a winner - the winger made a clever turn on the edge of the box but shot just wide of the post.

Matty Dixon made way for Steve Smith on 66 minutes but it was also clear that Ferguson was in trouble and despite limping on after treatment he was down again on 74 minutes , replaced by Nathan Curtis

It was then Hebburn’s turn to create a good opening; Martin struck but his shot deflected just wide in the 88th minute. A minute later Marin drilled a cross right in front of goal with nobody on hand to tap in as Tadcaster survived.

The final action of the game saw Agnew, who had worked so hard all afternoon, hit the target but the effort lacked the power to trouble the keeper who gathered as the referee blew for full time.

An important point for Tadcaster who now have a break from league action as they play Macclesfield at the Leasing.com Stadium in the FA Trophy, kick off at 3pm. See the Club web site for further details.
