Asaba’s Brace either side of an own goal Cancels out Elliott Andrew’s late Screamer.

Tadcaster made one change after their valiant display against Bottesford in midweek with Noah Kiwomya starting moving Elliott Andrew to the bench. The Brewers also welcomed back Alex Clark after a month-long absence as a 69th minute substitute.

An early winters afternoon greeted the players with Tadcaster having the first chance of the game after three minutes from a Curtis Senior delivery finding Kiwomya whose effort was off target.

Handsworth’s first opportunity came after the ten-minute mark from a cross turned shot, with the ball threatening to dip under the bar but Harry Stead was able to tip it over for a corner.

The deadlock was broken after 20 minutes when ex Tadcaster striker Jordan Hines latched onto a long ball, his saved effort falling kindly for Asaba to nod past a scrambling Charlie Owen 0 – 1.

Before half-time Handsworth’s Mitchell Dunne found space after a darting run down the right wing to turn a low cross into the area, but in a bid to get ahead of his man Ryan Gothard inadvertently turned the ball into his own net doubling Handsworth’s lead. 0 – 2.

Just after the restart Asaba got the first chance after a cross found its way through but his strike sailed over the crossbar. Tadcaster looked to have a way back into the game on the 50th minute after confusion from Handsworth’s backline gifted the ball to Kiwomya who laid it into the path of Owen, but his strike sailed safely over the bar.

Both teams were awarded their first bookings of the game after Asaba delayed the restart from a free kick, then moments later Oli Metcalfe was shown a yellow for bringing his man down .

On the hour mark Metcalfe was forcefully dispossessed leaving a gap in midfield whilst he stayed down; Handsworth played the ball through the centre to Asaba who wrapped his effort round the oncoming Stead to give Handsworth a third.0 - 3.

With 20 minutes left to play Tadcaster’s best chance of the game fell to Elliot Andrew who received the ball on the right wing and struck an audacious attempt from twenty yards that looped over the scrambling keeper to nestle into the far-left corner cutting the lead to 3-1.

Andrew's spectacular strike briefly raised hopes of a comeback, but Handsworth managed the closing stages to record their first away victory over Tadcaster and condemn Albion to a disappointing afternoon.

Tadcaster sit above the relegation zone in 18th on goal difference with their next fixture against playoff hopefuls Campion away from home on Friday evening Kick Off 7.45 pm. Earlier this month the Brewers , again away, beat Campion 3- 2 in the League Cup.
