The Brewers End Season in Defeat but Safe in the Northern Premier East

Steven Crawford and former Tadcaster men Casey Stewart and Junayd Cassius-Gill were on target for the visitors completing the league double this campaign.

John Deacey made one change, an enforced change from the side that lost at Ossett on Monday, as a suspended Jack Carr was replaced by Tom Godden making his first start of the season.

The visitors started brightly; within the first minute they won their first corner of the afternoon but Harry Fisk was on hand in the Tad goal to punch the delivery away.
In the second minute, the Amateur pressure continued, Chris Howarth throwing himself in front of a goal bound shot to keep the score level.

In the sixth minute Tadcaster had their first chance of the match; good work from Mark Ferguson on the right touchline won a corner before the striker himself got his head to the Jordan Deacey delivery but could not direct the attempt on target. In the 20th minute another Tad corner almost created an opening - Kieran Burton ghosted in at the back post but failed to squeeze his volley inside the post as it flashed wide.

Three minutes later the visitors led. Steven Crawford, from distance, chipped the ball over Fisk who, despite getting a hand to it could not quite prevent the shot going in. 0-1.

Tadcaster responded well and in the 26th minute Corey Roper put Ferguson away with a lob over the top but after racing onto the loose ball the Taddy marksman failed to get the power behind the strike as the keeper gratefully gathered. With ten minutes of the half remaining Kesi Omolokun flicked on a Ferguson long throw which agonisingly bounced beyond the far post as Tadcaster continued to push for the equaliser.

Stewart added the second goal in the 44th minute - a pinpoint cross from the left was well headed in off the post leaving Fisk with no chance despite being at full stretch, 0-2.

In the final minute of the half the Brewers had one more chance and could have halved the visitors lead. Deacey delivered another good ball into the box for Omolokun who was free and waiting but the defender got under it and lifted his header over from six years out.

At the break Yorkshire Amateur turned to the bench and brought on Cassius-Gill making his return to the Global Stadium.

Ten minutes into the second half Omolokun was again looking to get Tadcaster back into the game, a close-range header denied at point blank range by Max Culverwell in the Ammers goal. Culverwell was then out promptly to deny Ferguson after Des Amponsah had worked his way into the box before setting him up.

On the hour mark Cassius-Gill picked the ball up around 30 yards out and whistled an effort narrowly over Fisk’s crossbar as the visitors continued to have the better of the game.

In the 69th minute the Amateurs put the game to bed - Cassius-Gill with the goal, inside the box, a clinical, composed strike into the bottom corner, the type of goal seen before by that man at the Global Stadium.

The third goal seemingly took the wind out of Tadcaster sails and Yorkshire Amateur saw the game out with a controlling grip.

A disappointing way to end the season for the Brewers but with safety assured comfortably in advance of this fixture, the aim was already achieved.

Fisk, Howarth(c), Hartley, Burton, Omolokun, Roper, Godden, Deacey, Amponsah, Ferguson, Church. Subs not used: Hughes, Russell, Vieira.
