Tadcaster Albion lost 3-0 to Pickering Town who left it late to take all three points. The Pikes sit 10th after the result with Tadcaster one place above the relegation zone, although the Brewers have games in hand over most clubs in the league.

Another game at the Young Guns Arena under a burning evening sky started steadily with chances at a premium aside from a corner going Tadcaster’s way with a header being well turned onto the crossbar by Pickering’s Luke Jackson.

With just under half an hour gone on his first league start of the season, Ed Campbell whipped in a cross from the left wing and found the head of Olly Green who nodded his effort on target but it was well saved by Jackson.

Green had another opportunity just before the half time whistle receiving the ball and taking it round Jackson who got a slight touch on him to take him off balance as a Pickering defender slid the chance out from under him.

Into the second half and Tadcaster had the first opportunity with Campbell once again finding Green whose effort was easily taken by Jackson. Adam Porritt then took a possibility from distance with an hour gone but his shot flew into the keeper’s hands.

With less than 20 minutes to go Charlie Owen saw a chance drop to him at the back post but his volley grazed the crossbar. Moments later Pickering’s George Thewlis went into the book after dragging back Tadcaster substitute Oli Norman.

Going into the last ten minutes, a clearance by Pickering found its way up to substitute Cameron Blackburn who eluded Alex Clark’s challenge and broke away down just left of centre catching out Harry Stead and lofting the ball over him into the net for 1-0.

The evening went from bad to worse for Tadcaster with four minutes to play as Pikes top scorer, Souleymane Coulibaly, broke away on a counter attack, beating his man and nestling his shot into the bottom left corner for the second. 2 – 0.

A rare mistake from Stead followed two minutes later as his throw went wayward to Thewlis who cushioned the ball over the keeper and into the net for the third. 3 – 0.

Tadcaster are still looking for a first league win at home but will have to wait until after the away trip to Keighley on Saturday afternoon. Then on Friday 25th September its back to the Young Guns Arena for the visit of Knaresborough Town Kick Off 7.45 pm.
