Unnecessary Mistakes Cost Brewers .

On Thursday evening, the Brewers played their second pre season game of the new campaign in three nights at home to NCEL Division One, Nostell Miners Welfare.
Manager Ryan Qualter again used the game to play two different teams in each half.

The home team played towards the car park end in the first half and the first chance fell to Charlie Thompson as he volleyed over from a cross from Matty Mulhearn. A couple of minutes later Kieran Greenway put in a good cross but there was nobody on the end of it.

The visitors took the lead on 21 minutes on a breakaway from well inside their own half - there were chances to intercept and the ball ran kindly for Nostell but the finishing drive gave the keeper no chance. They then doubled the advantage on 39 with a penalty kick for a foul in the box.0-2.

There was still time before the break for Albion to twice go close; a great header was just saved by the keeper, before a Nostell defender almost turned the ball into his own net following a penetrating cross.

in the 62nd minute, one of the trialists came close for the Brewers with a great shot that bounced back off the woodwork.

In the 77th minute Oli Norman just cleared the bar as he cut in from the left , whilst Scarborough on loan defender, Cal Hudson, headed over from a free kick.

Ryan Qualter was philosophical acknowledging a fine performance from the visitors "it's frustrating but we will learn from our mistakes"

Tomorrow, Saturday, we are at home for a friendly against Ossett United, from the Northern Premier League Division One East who may well have some well known faces in the squad. Kick off is at the earlier time of 1.00 pm.
