The Brewers welcomed Bradford Park Avenue from the Northern Premier League Division One East for their sixth pre-season warm up.
Tadcaster survived some early pressure and had Cal Hudson to thank on 14 minutes when at the second attempt he cleared a dangerous attack. At the other end, a Rob Guilfoyle corner was met by an unmarked Alex Clarke whose header looked certain for the back of the net but for a sensational save from Jack Hall between the sticks for the visitors.
Bradford opened the scoring on 24 minutes when Tad failed to clear a cross from the right, headed home by James Ible. 0 – 1. Tadcaster survived two more chances before the break.
Oli Norman was on for Guilfoyle soon after the restart but on 51 minutes the visitors doubled the score when they broke from defence down the right flank and Marcus Carver had a straight forward tap in at the far post 0 – 2.
On the hour Norman put in a good run down the right but a trialist could not convert. Norman then went close with a looping header but just wide. On 67 minutes Dan Davy saw his strike from distance off target.
Play was interrupted with 16 minutes left on the clock when Harvey Wigglesworth had to be stretchered off having sustained what looked to be serious knee injury – we will update as soon as there is further information.
As full-time beckoned Bradford got a third from a goal mouth scramble. 0 – 3
Manager Ryan Qualter summed up the game;
“Bradford will be looking for promotion this season but for 60 minutes I thought we matched them. I was pleased with our application – individual errors cost us the goals, but we were really strong and competitive. We looked a threat from set pieces.”
On Saturday we have a local home derby with a pre-season friendly against Garforth Town, kick off 3.00 pm. Then on Tuesday its Maltby (7.45 at the Young Guns Arena) and we finish the warm up on Saturday the 19th July at home against Yarm and Eaglescliffe KO 3.00 pm.
