Matt Gore, Jimmy Gore and Kent Mayall Step Down

Tadcaster Albion Directors Matt and Jimmy Gore and Kent Mayall have stepped down from the Board as they can no longer to continue their support of the club as they had done in the past.

Their involvement with the Brewers through the i2i Academy goes back nine years to a time when Tadcaster Albion was in the Northern Counties East League and they were instrumental in helping the club gain promotion to the Northern Premier League.

Matt took on the role of Chairman with Jimmy and Kent also joining the Board and in their second season the club finished third in the NCEL Premier just missing out on promotion. They also made it through to the quarter final of the FA Vase against Highworth Town where they drew a record-breaking crowd of 1307 which still stands today excluding friendly matches. It was also the season when Taddy signed ex Man United and West Brom midfielder Jonathan Greening - his brother Josh already playing for the club.

The following season 2016/17 saw more team building with The Brewers taking the league title and moving up to Step 4 in the NLS.

i2i men Michael Morton and Simon Collins took over the managerial reigns and in 2018 the club reached the play-off semi-finals only to succumb to Bamber Bridge 1 – 2. It was probably the best team ever put out by Taddy but the following year under the guidance of Simon Collins they finished just outside of the play offs. Matt Gore relinquished his position as Chairman to Andy Charlesworth but his influence on the Board was felt for several years afterwards.

With Collins then leaving the club along with most of the squad it was time in 2019 for Matt, Jimmy and Kent to take more of a back seat. With Tadcaster’s relegation this season back, presumably, to the NCEL and i2i’s increasing business commitments, it is perhaps no surprise that they have now reached the decision to leave the Board.

We will, nevertheless. still be able to use the training facilities at York St Johns University whilst i2i will stay as a sponsor, providing a number of key services and support - we will still see their logo around the stadium
.
One little known initiative of Matt and Jimmy was the introduction of our fancy dress away game each season, something that was lost with Covid but really could do with resurrecting next season.

We would like to thank i2i for everything they bring to the Club and the friendships made.
