Selby Town 2 Tadcaster Albion 1

Keith Handley8 Jul - 20:42

Next game on Thursday at home to Bradford Park Avenue, 7.30pm

On Tuesday evening, The Brewers played their latest pre season friendly away at NCEL 1 club Selby Town. It was the home team who were to take the lead in the 14th minute as they scored with a screamer from 30 yards out into the top corner past Taddys trialist goalkeeper. Shortly after, The Brewers nearly got an equaliser as a defender headed the ball towards the goal and it landed on the top of the net.

Ten minutes before the break, Taddy forward Clark was denied by the Selby Town keeper Wilton to keep the score at 1-0 to the home team. That proved to be important as just 5 minutes later, the home team doubled their lead with a header from a right wing cross. This lead was held to half time so The Brewers went into the break 2 goals down.

The second half started with The Brewers making a number of changes at the break. Ten minutes into the second period, centre half Nathan Heaton pulled one back with a great curved shot, 2-1 Selby. On 71, fellow centre half Cal Hudson headed just wide from a floated free kick. It had been a better half for The Brewers and there was just time for a chance for both teams, Nathan Heaton making a good challenge for us in defence.

But it was to end with a home win for Selby Town, both teams will have benefited by extra minutes in the legs.
