Next Game, Brighouse Home on Friday 7pm.

On Tuesday evening, Tadcaster Albion played their first preseason game away at Selby Town. The Brewers quickly were in front after 4 minutes with a fine lob over the keeper by new forward Alfie Dean who recently joined them from Ilkley Town. Just 2 minutes later, Jordan Hines tapped in from close range from a cross by Shaun Hudson , but the goal was chalked off for offside.

Selby Town came close to an equaliser as an effort in the 18th minute was tipped over by Brewers keeper Sam Green. Three minutes before half time, they doubled their lead as a Hines cross was converted by Alfie Dean for his 2nd of the night. There was still time for a third as a Hudson cross was knocked in by a Selby Town defender. A fine first half of the season for The Brewers.

The Brewers made a number of changes for the 2nd half. On 57, Troy Greening went close as his shot hit the post. On 63 minutes, defender Dan Thirkell made a fine defensive header to clear from a Selby Town free kick. He was soon in action at the other end when he went close from a corner. A number of changes were now being made to share the minutes around the squad. Defender Thirkell thought he had scored from a corner after 77 minutes, but the referee wanted it retaken. He scored again from the retake, but the ball had already gone out of play. Good practice getting his forward eye in. Just 4 minutes from time, a trialist made it 4 for the Brewers with a great strike into the corner of the Selby net.

So a promising start for them, minutes in the legs and The Brewers are quickly back in action as their next preseason game is on Friday evening at home to Brighouse at the earlier time of 7pm.
