Tadcaster brush up their heading skills. By Annie Roberts

After a day of sunshine, 6th in the league Tadcaster Albion arrived in the outskirts of
Rotherham for what hoped to be a promising game against 9th in the league Parkgate FC.After a well-earned victory against Campion on Friday, Brewers fans would be looking for a repeat performance.

The game made a fast start and, for Tadcaster, a very good one. The first chance for the Brewers was a joint effort from Charlie Owen and Oliver Green barely a minute into the match that was saved by the Parkgate keeper. However, as the ten minute mark passed, the
Brewers would score the first goal of the game. After his first header from a corner was blocked, manager Ryan Qualter launched a second one into the back of the net, putting Tadcaster into the lead before the first half cups of tea had cooled down enough to drink.

Tadcaster continued with their fantastic start to the match with back to back chances at the 18 minute mark; a just-wide flick from Desmond Okoro followed by a blocked ball from Oliver Norman. This well-played football would be rewarded with a second goal for the Brewers, as
Curtis Senior sent a great ball to Green, who then secured the goal with a header.
Confidently in the lead, Tadcaster took a more relaxed approach to the latter part of the first half, with a chance from Parkgate’s coming a little close for comfort.

Some minor tension sparked on the pitch towards the end of the half, with Oliver Norman receiving a booking for putting the ball into the net after the home team sent a harsh free kick straight at Charlie Owen. Albion goalkeeper Ally Hughes put his skills to the test with two back-to-back impressive saves right on the half time whistle, keeping the Brewers 2 goals up going into the second half.

The second half began with a substitution for Tadcaster, taking off Andrew Shepherd and replacing him with Oliver Metcalfe. A bit more back and forth between the two teams occurred in the early part of the half, with chances from Oliver Norman and Curtis Senior for the away team, and a narrowly blocked free kick, as well as a close corner for the home side. However, the Brewers soon returned to earlier form with Oliver Green scoring his second goal of the night 57 minutes into the game, with another header soaring into the net
after an assist from George Pearson.

Tadcaster’s second substitution brought on Miguel Cassama in place of Desmond Okoro at the 63 minute mark. More chances for Albion’s Billy Marshall and Oliver Norman before the away side returned Ryan Qualter to his usual spot on the sidelines, and brought on Matthew
Mulhearn. Tadcaster’s final two substitutions took off Oliver Norman and Billy Marshall, and brought on Fatlum Ibrahimi and Noah Kiwomya.

When the final whistle blew, Tadcaster sailed into a masterful but well-earned victory. Their next game will be at home against Pickering Town on Saturday the 21st of March at 3pm.

The result left The Brewers in the play off spots, but the teams in there are changing after every game. This will be very tight until the last kick of the season.

Starting XI: Hughes, Pearson, Senior, Shepherd © (Metcalfe), Harris, Qualter (Mulhearn), Norman (Ibrahimi), Marshall (Kiwomya), Okoro (Cassama), Owen, Green.
