The Brewers Fall to Defeat in Yorkshire Derby at the Ingfield Stadium.

Despite a Nathan Dyer opener midway through the first half, three Ossett goals in 15 minutes turned the game on its head.

The returning Des Amponsah was handed a place on the bench alongside another new arrival Mariusz Bratkowski while Bradford City loanee Raj Palit made his debut.

The hosts were on the front foot from the off, after eight minutes Alex Peterson scuffing his volley wide of the upright. Almost immediately Dyer had an effort from distance which Edd Hall watched into his hands, the Tad man driving in from the right before striking with his weaker foot.

On ten minutes Josh Mazfari did well to deny former loanee, Oli Metcalfe, who turned smartly and struck for the top corner but the Tadcaster shot stopper plucked the effort out the air and held it well. Ossett came again, Craig Nelthorpe squandering a big chance slicing his shot wide at the back post.

In the 22nd minute Tad created the best opening of the evening; a great driving run from Theo Hudson through the middle of the park saw the midfielder open up space for Jordan Hines who let fly but his effort lacked the power to trouble Hall.

A minute later Tadcaster broke the deadlock. Hudson sprayed a defence splitting ball over for Dyer who controlled brilliantly before driving into the box and from a tight angle finished emphatically into the top left corner, 0-1.

The Brewers almost doubled their advantage in the 26th minute - Lewis Hey found Dyer who was denied this time, firstly by the keeper and then the offside flag. Nevertheless, the game had become stretched with the pendulum swinging Ossett’s way as Chris Dawson struck the foot of the post in the 27th minute.

Tadcaster’s lead didn’t last long; six minutes after going ahead James Walshaw brought the West Yorkshire side level, a poked effort snuck into to equalise, 1-1.

Just after the half hour and momentum with the hosts, Ossett turned the game on its head with Walshaw scoring his second ,heading in from close range, 2-1.
Walshaw almost completed his hattrick in the 32nd minute but for a brilliant last-ditch clearance from captain Dan Hartley.

In the 35th minute Palit hit a speculative effort on target but it was an easy take for Hall.

Ossett extended their advantage in the 37th minute. Peterson found himself free at the back post to finish beyond Mazfari, and despite calls for offside, Referee Tyers allowed the goal to stand. 3-1.

The half-time break brought about a Tadcaster change; Hines was replaced by Amponsah who made an instant impact. The winger turned his marker inside out before pulling back for Palit who saw his shot blocked.

In the 48th minute Taddy came close again; Dyer was first to the ball as he rounded Hall on the edge of the box but then, having created a shooting opportunity, it was blocked on the line by a covering defender.

Having started the half very brightly, momentum remained with Andy Monkhouse’s side. In the 50th minute Hudson fired wide from the edge of the box before Palit saw another effort saved by the keeper.

Just before the hour mark Tadcaster won a free kick in an enticing position; Hudson stepped up but his strike hit the foot of the post with the keeper rooted.

In the 61st minute Ossett won a penalty after a handball in the box. Walshaw stepped up, in search of his hattrick but Mazfari was equal to the shot from twelve yards, saving impressively.

On 67 minutes Omar Sanyang was on for Palit for a fresh injection of pace up front.

Hartley impressively stopped the hosts again on 72 minutes, Walshaw this time denied by a sensational block from the Tad number six. However, a minute later Ossett netted their fourth, Metcalfe the scorer, sliding home from the centre of the box.

With Bratkowski on for Dyer, Walshaw again came close in the 87th minute but the shot was blocked and the rebound miscued.

In stoppage time Tad launched a counter; Sanyang drove forward and found Amponsah who carried on the move before shooting over inside the box.

Tadcaster return to action on Tuesday night with the re-arranged fixture against Sheffield FC at the SoTrak Stadium, kick off 7:45pm. Next Saturday they host Carlton Town again at home, KO 3.00 pm
