Oli Metcalfe returned to Taddy in September and until early November had been an ever present in the first team. The 23 year old midfielder has previously played for Guiseley, Ossett United, Pontefract, Knaresborough and Thackley.
Unfortunately he was badly injured in the recent away match at Handsworth where he was stretchered off in the second half. We now know that not only does he have a fractured knee but also a damaged medial ligament - the one that connects the thigh bone to the shin bone.
He requires urgent surgery but due to the pressures on the NHS, will have to go private, with the huge costs that entails - £5000 is needed.
In his own words:
Hi my name is Oli Metcalfe and on the 8th of November 2025 playing in a football match for Tadcaster Albion I suffered a knee injury and was then stretchered off . This happened just over 2 weeks ago and after X-Rays , MRI’s and consultations the doctors have found a break in my knee and medial ligament damage too .
At the time of the injury I did have injury insurance, however, I have been unable to claim due to the type of this particular injury .
I have been playing football from a very early age , and never had an injury until this season - This is my second serious injury of the season as earlier on I dislocated my shoulder while playing football again.
My surgery is booked in for next week , so after having 3 weeks off work and football , I will be having an extended amount of time off work and football while the surgery , rehab and physio is completed .
Any donations during this time while I’m unable to earn an income will be going towards the surgery and rehab/physio costs - as the NHS waiting list was far too long, I’m having to fund this myself.
Thank you
Oli
