Despite the situation regarding the current season, the lock down, and the flooding last week, we are pleased to report that discussions / planning for the proposed new club have continued apace.

Once the plans have been signed off by the Clubs Directors, discussions with the local Planning Authority will open with a view to an early planning application. We will share the drawings with the supporters and our volunteer staff as soon as we can.

The picture above shows what can be done but please bear in mind that this is simply an artist’s impression - the design has still to be finalised and it may look quite different.

Mention was made in the recent website article on the flood prevention scheme that one of the possible solutions seems to provide the necessary measures to safeguard the ground as much as is possible. The club is working with the Environmental Agency to pursue this alternative.

That said the new club house will still be built above the flood plain to give the maximum protection against whatever the weather can throw at us over the years to come. It will be slightly larger than the current building but will be approximately in the same location within the Global Stadium.

The existing facility has served the club well but what we are working on now will be appropriate for the 21st Century. The club will not only be looking to maximise the services and comforts available to the players, fans, and officials on matchday but hope the new building will attract interest from local residents and businesses and will be available to hire.

We are working with The Football Foundation for financial support and are at an advanced stage of discussion. However, that does not go all the way and we are now fundraising . We have had support from Selby Council, North Yorkshire County Council, Tadcaster Town Council along with Buildbase, the national builders’ merchants.

We will now be canvassing local and national businesses for more support for the new build from Corporate sponsorship or Corporate donations through charity arms. We are also considering offering supporters a chance of posterity with a “Buy a Brick or Plaque” scheme
