The road to Wembley starts for The Brewers on Saturday as they head up the road to Teeside to play in the cup at Thornaby F.C. Last season, we got through 2 rounds of the cup before being defeated 3-0 at home to Macclesfield in the 1st qualifying round. That game was live on TV after our previous live game in previous seasons against Chester.

Thorganby started their league campaign with a 2-1 away win at Birtley last Saturday and followed this up on Tuesday evening with a 1-1 draw at home to North Shields. A good start to the season. They were promoted to the Northern Football League Division one last season via the play offs. They now play at the same level as The Brewers with promotion to the Northern Premier League Division 1 East as the ultimate goal this season for both teams. The winner of this cup tie will be at home to Northern Premier League Division 1 East, Dunston from Tyneside. The winners of the game against Thornaby FC will get £1,125 in prize money and the defeated team gets £375. This prize money goes up a bit each round, so you still would get a bit more if you went out in the next round. All useful money for clubs at our level with the extra chance of the live TV game each round.

The Brewers will be looking to build on their exciting very late 3-2 win last weekend against one of the promotion favourites Beverley Town. Great feeling that day, which makes you want more of it.
