The Brewers start their F.A. Vase campaign this season with a Friday night trip to West Yorkshire to play fellow NCEL Premier team Albion Sports. The Vase is a good competition for teams at our level, as we are the highest level divisions to enter the competition and there is a Wembley Final at the end of it. With a few friendly draws, you can quickly go deep into this completion. It is not like the F.A Cup where bigger teams constantly join in later. That said, an away draw at Albion Sports is a stiff test. It would be a great time to get the away form into gear.
Albion Sports had a good season last year and qualified for the playoffs. They were to go out lose on a penalty shoot off in the final at Garforth Town. We lost 1-0 away in the league last season, but an Ollie Norman hat trick gave us a 3-0 victory at home. In the league this season, they are a point above The Brewers having played one more game. At home, they have a decent 8 points from 4 game played, so it should be another competitive game. The prize money for the F.A. Vase is lower than the F.A. Cup, but the winner on Friday will get £725, whilst the loser picks up £225.
