Central Defender Joins From Yorkshire Amateurs

WE are pleased to report that another player released by Yorkshire Amateurs has signed for the Brewers and, in fact, made his debut in the second half of the Tadcaster Magnets game last Friday.

Thirty-one-year-old James Beaston is a central defender although happy to play right back as well. He had spent three seasons with the “Ammers” and before that was with Garforth for four years and their captain for most of the time.

Five-foot ten-inch James was earlier with Glasshoughton, Harrogate Railway and Nostell Miners Welfare. He lives in Sherburn in Elmet where he grew up and apart from a couple of years in Atlanta USA, has lived there all his life. He says his worst moment in football was “captaining my local team Sherburn White Rose to relegation!”

His “day” job is a Sports Development Officer with Leeds City Council

“I have not played for the Brewers before but being a local lad, I have been to Ings lane many times and I am joining a well-run club with a brilliant reputation and the right aspirations. I know quite a few of the players and John Deacey’s plans for the coming season are something I would love to be involved with. We started training in the second week in June at Ammers, so I am ready to go!

Welcome James!
