A golden summer’s evening set the scene as the FA Cup battle from the weekend renewed with Tadcaster Albion beating Glossop North End 2-0 in a replay.

A slightly changed squad from the previous game saw Jayden Clarke-Thompson starting and all three debutants from Saturday retaining their places.

Clarke-Thompson had the first shot of the game with less than 60 seconds gone which resulted in Olly Green striking an effort which was cleared off the line having beaten Oliver Martin in the Glossop net.

Just before the 20th minute Green once again caused problems sending an inviting ball through to Harry Croft whose vicious strike was well saved by Martin. Following that the first half struggled to get going with both Junior Smith and Jack Schofield, who was sent off on Saturday, receiving bookings for dissent.

Glossop’s only major chance of the half came through a run by Max Bardsley-Rowe who broke away down the left and with an option to put the ball into the middle of the box, decided to strike goalwards which deflected steadily into Harry Stead’s gloves.

The second half began with Croft getting himself into the book for competing for a header with five minutes off the clock.

Two minutes later Schofield’s dismal time against Tadcaster got worse as he bundled Green over in his own box and gave away a penalty; Spencer Harris stood over it as another booking was directed to Dylan Switters for scuffing up the spot, and eventually struck his penalty to the left giving the Brewers the lead. 1 - 0.

With an hour just gone Green bundled over his man out wide and picked himself up a booking. Cole Roberts continued his impressive evening with a run down the wing and sent an inviting ball in for substitute Des Okoro who’s effort whistled over the bar from 8 yards out.

Glossop’s best chance of the game dropped to Junior Smith from a ball in on the right where, staring into the goalmouth, his rushed effort went gently wide. A succession of substitutes followed, and Glossop were struggling to get a foothold back in the game.

With the clock ticking into the final five minutes Green shook off his man much to the complaints of the home bench and dashed down the wing with Desmond Okoro matching pace in the middle as Green tried to find him. The resulting back and forth ended in Green smashing home at the near post to make it two. 2 - 0.

Glossop’s goal scorer from Saturday, Owen Warburton, was booked in added time for barging through Clarke-Thompson to round off a tough evening for the Hillmen with the final whistle bringing it to a close shortly after.

Tadcaster will play Stalybridge Celtic at home in the next round on Saturday 22nd August at the Young Guns Arena , Kick Off 3.00 pm. Tomorrow it's back to League action with a home game against Frickley Athletic, Kick Off, again at 3.00 pm
