Garry Plant is Our New Chairman

It's a Big Taddy Welcome For the New Chairman

Tadcaster Albion is delighted to announce that Garry Plant has accepted the offer to take over as Chairman of the Club.

A local resident, Garry brings with him unparalleled experience in the non-league game having, until two years ago, been Managing Director of Harrogate Town . He was also a Board member of the Vanarama National League, the highest non-league in the UK and feeder to the Football League.

Over a ten-year period, he played a vital part in the success which saw Harrogate transformed from a team struggling in the National North, to now being an established member of EFL Division Two.

In particular Garry was also a key figure as the club’s Wetherby Road ground underwent major improvements and the team themselves switched from part-time to fully professional status.

In his early days at Harrogate, he was heavily involved in setting up Town's youth development program and their Community Foundation before being appointed managing director three years later.

No surprise that when long time previous Tadcaster Albion Chairman, Andy Charlesworth, let it be known we wished to stand down, all eyes turned to Garry who had this to say.

“When I first spoke to the board at The Albion I was struck by the passion and sincerity that came across from everyone. It is apparent that it has not been an easy or comfortable past 18 months or so and there needs to be a return to basics on and off the pitch.

Supporters and Club Volunteers are the heartbeat of a football club and that includes the board of directors that sink so many hours of their own time in to running Albion without any financial gain.

Mick O'Connell heads up a fresh, new management team and has already stamped his mark on the direction going forward - honest, hardworking, exciting football, no passengers or prisoners.

We are in discussion with the Premier League Stadium Improvement via The FA Football Foundation to develop the stadium. There is significant funding potential but there is no such thing as a free lunch, we have to match fund the proposed offer and that means we have a significant sum to raise.

The club must embrace and embed itself into the local community. As we develop the stadium it must be a facility the people of Tadcaster can use to support community groups.
This season is about consolidating our position, building the foundations for promotion and setting our sights on climbing the football pyramid.

Honesty, Hard Work, Exciting Football and Winning, we need everyone's support to make this work and put Albion in the frame.
