The Quarter Final with Highworth Town is undoubtedly the biggest game in Tadcaster Albion’s 123 year history. We’re expecting up to 300 supporters to make the long journey to Wiltshire, so we’d like to start by thanking everyone for their support and dedication to the TAFC cause. We hope everybody has a safe and pleasant journey. Some fans joined the players and management team by travelling down on Friday, which was a first for the club. These are exciting times indeed!
This is also the first time we’ve ever had a live feed for one of our games, so we’d like to say a big thank you to Hunters at Wetherby for enabling this to happen. It is a fantastic alternative for those supporters who weren’t able to travel.
We would also like to thank all the well-wishers who have taken the time to send messages of support this week – from local shops and businesses to people living all around the world who follow our progress via the internet. It has been phenomenal and we’re all very grateful for your kind words and positive thoughts. They will be read out to the players prior to the game, so let’s hope you can inspire the team to victory.
This is a chance for both teams to make history. Neither Tadcaster or Highworth have ever reached the semi-final of the FA Vase before, and as a result we’re expecting a very competitive game. The preparation for the game has been excellent, and we’ve no injuries to the squad – other than the unfortunate suspension of Paddy Miller.
We’ve been absolutely delighted with the players and the management team, and the season we’ve had so far. Everyone is working very hard and the team spirit is excellent. We certainly don’t envy The Gaffer’s selection headache. It’s a difficult task to pick the squad when everyone has performed so well. Whatever happens, we’ll be proud of every single player.
Once again, thanks to all our supporters and sponsors. We hope you enjoy the occasion, and let’s see if we can make it a bit further along the road to Wembley.
