Brewers Earn a Hard-Fought Point on the Road .

Craig Ogilvie and Neil Sibson named three changes to the side that lost against Grimsby Borough with new signings Lewis Hey and Eddie Prata handed immediate debuts.

As expected the hosts were on the front foot from the off - a corner flashed across the box in the 3rd minute with nobody there to tap home as Tad survived an early scare. As the clock ticked beyond the ten-minute mark, Carlton were putting pressure on the Tadcaster backline but without creating any clear-cut chances.

From a Carlton corner in the 12th minute Tadcaster broke at pace; the two debutants combined as Eddy Prata fed Lewis Hey who drove down the left and delivered an inch perfect cross for Nathan Dyer to slide home with a driven volley, his first for the club, 0-1.

A minute after taking the lead the Brewers were looking to double their advantage. Dyer delivered a cross for Prata who volleyed the ball back looking for Jack Johnson - Carlton cleared only as far as Prata who whipped a fierce cross/shot on target forcing the keeper to punch clear. Albion came again from the right - Dyer picked out Roy Fogarty who appeared to be hauled to the ground but the referee waved away appeals.

Tadcaster’s lead ended, however, in the 20th minute when a long throw in from the left touch line bounced through and at the back post Niall Davie managed to squeeze the ball home to equalise. 1 – 1.

The goal boosted the hosts who pushed for a second. T’Nique Fishley was in the way of a goal bound effort before Harry Fisk produced an impressive one-handed save, getting down to his right to deny Cain Noble from distance after the defender carried the ball forward.

In the 36th minute the visitors came back at Carlton, Prata again the man causing problems with his quick feet; the winger cut in from the left before unleashing his strike but the ball cleared the bar. With less than five minutes to play before the break, Tadcaster saw another Carlton cross fly across the face of goal, this time from Aaron Opoku.

The Brewers again saw penalty appeals waved away before the half was over, Dyer this time looked to have been upended but the referee was not interested.

Early into the second half Tad created a good opening; Prata chipped a clever ball in behind for Hey who tried to lob the keeper but the effort just lacked the necessary height .In the 53rd minute Fogarty had his first real sight of goal; from 25 yards out the number nine took aim but his shot needed more power and Michael Emery gathered.

Aaron O’Connor was twice denied by Tadcaster bodies - Josh Grant and Dan Hartley both threw themselves in the firing line in the 56th minute with the game becoming stretched and a little end to end. Ten minutes later Opoku headed over from inside the six-yard box with the hosts again looking to get ahead.

On 68 minutes Tadcaster had their best chance of the half, a brilliant corner from Prata was not dealt with by the keeper under pressure from Dyer, who, leaning back and stretching, managed to poke toward goal but his effort hit the top of the bar.

With 20 minutes to go, the Tadcaster defence was again called into action to block in their six-yard box before Fisk bravely dived in to claim.

A largely stop start second half, with plenty of the game battled in the midfield, looked as if the next goal was likely to win the game with both sides in with a chance.

A dangerously positioned Carlton free kick came and went as Davie fired over before in the 90th minute Tadcaster somehow survived what looked a certain goal for the hosts - Fisk aided by his defence initially made a brilliant save/block on the line before Tad somehow scrambled the ball wide with Carlton players in disbelief. From the resulting corner Carlton captain Martin Ball remarkably caught the ball which was heading beyond the back post - an impressive catch but all he was rewarded with was the only yellow card of the afternoon!

The final chance of the afternoon fell the way of Carlton but O’Connor headed over from close range and that was that - the points were shared.

A vital point on the road for Tadcaster - the first point for the new managerial duo who have been in the job just a little over a week . There is still plenty to work on but positives to take moving forward.

Next up for the Brewers is another away day with a trip to Grimsby Borough for the second time in as many weeks next Saturday, kick off 3pm.

Fisk, Fishley, Beaston (c), Hartley, Grant, Dyer (Deacey), Smith, Johnson, Prata, Hey, Fogarty. Subs not used: Roper, Curtis, Jebson-King.
