We are Delighted to Announce that Former Bridlington Manager/ Striker, Brett Agnew has Joined The Brewers

Born in Scotland, 33-year-old Brett had considerable success in the semi pro leagues with firstly West Calder and then Rutherglen . In 2015 a job move brought him to England where he joined Hull United, managed at the time by ex-Brewer’s gaffer, Curtis Woodhouse. When Curtis took over in 2016 at Bridlington, Brett soon followed.

His years with Brid were interrupted in 2017/18 by a move to North Ferriby United, at that time in the National North, but his career was put on hold for 18 months following an operation to repair a torn cruciate ligament and fractured knee.

On his return to the Seasiders, the club became managerless when Curtis Woodhouse moved to Taddy and Brett’s offer to help temporarily lasted 3 years!

It was a joint role he enjoyed but at the end of last season when he had secured their place in the Northern Premier East, he felt it was the right time to make a move - “ I felt like I had done a good job in the four seasons that I had been at the club and I needed a new challenge to sink my teeth into”

In his time with the Seasiders, Brett made 128 appearances, scoring seventy-three goals along the way.

John Deacey was quick to see that this experience could be of considerable benefit to Taddy and made the necessary approach.

“Leaving Bridlington was a tough decision but it meant a lot to me when John Deacey took the time to discuss a move to Tadcaster. I still have ambition to score more goals or help those around me to do so. I had approaches from several other clubs but having spoken to Curtis, Jake Day and Martin Foster, I decided this was an opportunity I could not miss.

Welcome Brett – enjoy your time with us!
