REPORT | Second Half Surge Sees Off Silsden

Sean Hunter, Matty Savage, Tom Hullock and Ed Jackson were all on target as the young Brewers wore Silsden down in the second half.

Michael Morton and Simon Collins welcomed David Barber, Owen Marshall, Fraser Hansen, Matty Savage, Ed Jackson, Max Tweddle and Donald Chimalilo all back into the starting line-up.

Albion started the brighter in Keighley with Ed Jackson seeing his vicious curling effort well saved by the Silsden stopper.

Taddy were always in complete control of the contest and they really should have taken the lead half-way through the first half when a defensive error allowed Joe Pugh in behind but the striker blasted over the mark.

The pressure intensified on the home side in the second half as Donald Chimalilo’s dug-out shot deflected agonisingly wide before Fraser Hansen somehow flicked over from three yards after the goalkeeper dropped a corner.

Nevertheless they were ahead soon after and it was an inspired substitution that unlocked the door. Ed Jackson’s ball in behind Silsden’s back-line was pounced upon by Sean Hunter who kept his cool and threaded under the goalkeeper.

The result seemed a formality from this moment on as Taddy only grew in confidence. They doubled their lead and sealed the three points in the 74th minute when Donald Chimalilo set up a counter-attack before Hunter drove down the right and pulled back into space where Matty Savage entered the box and nonchalantly side-footed into the opposite corner.

It was 0-3 five minutes later and the floodgates were starting to open. Donald Chimalilo again was too hot to handle as the electric attacker drove up the by-line and simply squared across to Tom Hullock who couldn’t miss from two yards out.

Tadcaster’s scoring was finally rounded off with a fourth in the 87th minute as Ed Jackson was brought down for a penalty and the same player stepped up and converted the spot-kick emphatically.
