After going two goals down in the first half, Taddy turned the game right around in the second half drawing level through goals from Matt Heath and Jimmy Beadle. With no extra-time to be played, it was straight to the dreaded drama of a penalty shoot-out to decide who would advance into the next round of the West Riding County Cup. In the end it was the Evo-Stik side who prevailed winning 7-6 on penalties.
Taddy made five changes to the win over Pickering Town with Leon Wrigglesworth, Ryan Woodhead, Liam Ormsby, Carl Stewart and George Conway all promoted to the starting eleven in place of Josh Greening, Josh Barrett, Jordan Armstrong, Gary Stevens and Tom Claisse. Leon Wrigglesworth and Ryan Woodhead were both making their first starts of the season for the first team and Liam Ormsby and Carl Stewart both started for the first time since recovering from injuries.
It was the Brewers who had the first chance at goal with Dan Clayton curling a free-kick into that area between goalkeeper and defence which was met by an unmarked Andy Milne who just couldn't guide on target.
Taddy were being held to strictly long shots only as Adam Baker and George Conway both tried their luck from range but couldn't hit the target.
However it was the home side who took the lead after 35 minutes as Bobby Johnson prodded home from a corner which Albion failed to clear in the first phase.
Shortly after Adam Baker wangled a chance which was inside the penalty area but once again the end product flew comfortably over the mark.
With that good chance to equalise spurned, Goole coincidentally went straight up the other end and doubled their lead as Nick Guest nipped in behind, rounded Wrigglesworth and rolled into the empty net.
Half-Time: Goole 2-0 Tadcaster Albion
Things started to swing in the way of the Brewers in the second half as Goole midfielder Robbie Cotton was shown a straight red card for an awful challenge on Dan Clayton who was lucky to walk away unscathed. From the resulting free-kick Taddy took the lead as Liam Ormsby's lofted free-kick was headed across goal by Carl Stewart and Matt Heath flicked the ball into the back of the net with his knee.
It was even stevens just seven minutes later as Jimmy Beadle got his standard goal a game as Carl Stewart notched up his second assist of the match by teeing up Beadle who struck low and hard into the back of the net to level the cup tie.
It was a matter of both sides having half chances to take the lead but these were never taken however, Taddy seemed to have a terrific shout for a penalty as Josh Barrett charged onto a loose ball in the area and appeared to clearly be brought down, the referee thought otherwise.
Tadcaster were dominating the second half and it felt as though they were going to net a third and go on and win the tie however the Evo-Stik side weathered The Brewery storm and with no extra-time, it was straight to a penalty shoot-out.
