Tadcaster Albion made it two wins for the week after a comfortable victory at Wisbech Town.

First half goals from Billy Whitehouse and Casey Stewart gave the Brewers a deserved lead at the break before an Aiden Savory brace sealed a commanding win in Norfolk.

Simon Collins made just a single change to the team that beat Loughborough in midweek as Jake Rose was back in midfield replacing the injured Corey Roper.

Conditions were miserable on the Cambridgeshire border as the Brewers got off to a controlling and lively start.

After a couple of early near-misses, Taddy did take a deserved lead on 22 minutes when Aiden Savory’s low strike was parried by goalkeeper Dan Swan allowing for Billy Whitehouse to sweep in the follow-up.

Albion were looking a real threat going forward as the hosts struggled to get close to the dynamic duo of Billy Whitehouse and Casey Stewart.

The enigmatic Stewart should have doubled their lead three minutes later when he found himself one-on-one with Swan but the Town stopper won this particular head-to-head.

However despite Taddy’s dominance, Wisbech drew level nine minutes later. A driven ball forward by the home side was misjudged by Harry Coates, Ingham stormed off his line but miscued his clearance which allowed Michael Frew to curl into the net from distance.

The equaliser didn’t deter Tadcaster though as they continued to play confident fluid football in the swirling monsoon like rain. The space in behind Wisbech’s defence was there to be exploited but Albion continued to be caught by the offside trap time and time again.

The two sides looked to be going into the half-time interval all square but Taddy had other ideas as they restored their lead deep into added time, in some style too. It all started from a Wisbech free-kick which was well defended and the counter-attack was on, Billy Whitehouse drove down the right and curled a sumptuous ball in behind to Casey Stewart who kept his cool to stroke past Swan.

The Brewers have been in this scenario before though where they’ve looked so comfortable, aka Marske away and left with no points so it certainly wasn’t a given at the break, especially as Town came out improved in the second half.

A deep cross from the right-hand side dropped to two unmarked red shirts but Ryan Harnwell’s wild swing sailed harmlessly over.

Simon Collins’ men were still posing a serious threat going forward though with Casey Stewart making it look all too easy at times after setting up another attack. Aiden Savory picked out Billy Whitehouse in the box with a lovely outside of the foot ball and after the winger cleverly jinked inside, he didn’t have the finish to match firing way wide.

Stewart and Whitehouse were instrumental once more moments later as the two combined with a neat give and go in the Wisbech box but the former’s shot deflected kindly into the arms of Swan.

Taddy rode the early second half wave from the home side and came out of it stronger again as it only seemed a matter of time until they added breathing space.

Aiden Savory couldn’t have done much more when he fired an inviting ball down the corridor of uncertainty but neither Stewart, Colley nor Whitehouse gambled enough to tap in. The attack was still ongoing however as Whitehouse pulled back to Pete Davidson in space who’s decent strike from 23 yards was tipped wide by Dan Swan.

Nevertheless that crucial third goal came just seconds later when Aiden Savory tapped in from two yards after Harry Coates kept a Whitehouse free-kick alive.

The result seemed even more of a formality at this point but credit to Wisbech who continued to plug away at Albion’s goal. Alex Beck almost made for an interesting final 15 minutes but his laced struck volley clipped off the top of the crossbar. Centre-backs Harry Coates and Jason Mycoe were immense dealing with every long ball thrown onto them with Hardy and Barkworth comfortable either side of them. Jake Rose also displayed a first-class performance alongside Pete Davidson in the centre of midfield marshalling Wisbech professionally and effectively.

The Brewers rounded off a brilliant afternoon with a fourth goal in the final minute of normal time. Davidson set Savory running through on goal and the forward was coolness personified to confidently slot past Swan in the Town goal.
