Despite leading at the break, Tadcaster were punished by current table toppers Bamber Bridge after a second half capitulation.

Tom Corner’s close range finish on 38 minutes nudged the Brewers ahead before Brig’s Brad Carsley netted twice at the beginning of the second half to turn the contest on its head.

The points were secured seventeen minutes from time when Regan Linney curled a pearler into the top corner.

The comeback sees Bamber Bridge maintain their unbeaten record at the Sir Tom Finney Stadium this season and stay top of the Evo-Stik First Division North.

Brewers boss Michael Morton made just the single change to the midweek defeat over Ossett Town as Conor Sellars came back into the starting line-up in place of Jason Mycoe.

On a chilly autumnal afternoon in Lancashire, the home side started out on the front foot dominating possession and keeping the ball penned in Albion’s half.

The league leaders were looking confident and composed in possession but were struggling to carve open the Brewers or create any kind of chance on goal.

This was down to Taddy’s good shape and compactness; there were few gaps between the defence and midfield for Brig to exploit into.

The weather was more of a talking point half-way through the first half when a monsoon shower thundered down before a glorious rainbow appeared and the sunshine returned.

The closest Albion came to a goal in the opening half an hour was a teasing Lawrance Hunter cross which Tom Corner was close to sliding onto.

This was then followed by Brig’s best moment of the half when a deep cross found Alistair Waddecar at the back post who slid across the face of goal but no white shirt was on-hand to turn goalwards.

And then, out of the blue, Taddy opened the scoring with seven minutes left of the half.

It all started with a brilliant sixty yard switch from Josh Barrett to find Josh Greening on the right-hand side.

The tricky Greening then chopped back onto his left-foot before curling onto the head of Tom Corner who was originally denied by Lloyd Rigby, Savory somehow couldn’t bundle over the line but the ball then popped back out to Tom Corner who prodded into the net.

Half-Time: Bamber Bridge 0-1 Taddy

Morton’s message at the break was all about game management seeing out the first 10-15 minutes and come out of that with a lead still intact.

However this plan soon went out the window as the home side levelled just five minutes into the second forty five.

A pretty simple goal in all honesty, Chris Marlow’s luscious left-footed cross was powerfully headed into the back of the net by Brad Carsley.

Brig’s tails were up at this point and all of a sudden the table toppers were in front but this goal was handed to them and a criminal goal to concede from Tadcaster’s point of view.

Tom Corner held the ball up on the half-way line before coming inside, looking up and around for options only to pass it straight to Waddecar who shifted quickly to Carsley and his shot deflected past Michael Ingham.

All of Albion’s hard work in the first half was undone in four quick minutes.

The Brewers continued to fight hard after being pegged back and Aidan Savory saw his shot well held from a tight angle before Tom Corner blasted narrowly over the mark.

But in the 73rd minute it was effectively game over as Bamber Bridge saved the best till last to move 3-1 up.

Regan Linney showed brilliant intricate footwork to manoeuvre space away from two Taddy players on the edge of the box and sent an unstoppable shot into the top corner.

The contest may have felt as though it was done and dusted but having said that it could have very easily finished three apiece as Tad threw away two glorious chances in the final couple of minutes.

First of which fell to Josh Greening as Michael Ingham’s goal kick skidded right through the heart of the Bridge defender setting up a one v one between Greening and the goalkeeper but the Albion forward failed to beat Lloyd Rigby.

And secondly in stoppage time Adam Baker crossed perfectly for Josh Barrett at the back post who could only head over from three yards out.
