Despite a tremendous effort, Albion slipped to a single-goal defeat at home to Hyde.

The only goal of the game came on 12 minutes when Aaron Hardy’s pass was intercepted by Elliot Rokka and he slid Adam Gilchrist in behind who found the net.

Michael Morton’s side threw everything at their opponents in the second half in order to grab a point but that cutting edge in the final third continued to elude them.

The Taddy boss made one change to the midweek defeat at Prescot with Harry Sheppeard returning in place of Conor Sellars.

Despite a positive start by the Brewers, in particularly Casey Stewart who looked lively going up against Kyle Brownhill, Hyde broke the deadlock shortly after the ten minute mark.

Aaron Hardy’s cut-out pass swiftly led to Adam Gilchrist driving in clean through on goal.

The number nine weighed up his options before rounding Michael Ingham and just turning home after Jason Mycoe almost recovered to clear the danger.

The Brewers picked themselves up and came close to levelling two minutes later when the irrepressible Pete Davidson latched onto a loose ball to poke just wide.

However, after firing wide Pete Davidson was clattered into by full-back Kyle Brownhill but referee Mr. Johnstone was unmoved.

In a half of few chances, it was another stray pass from Albion that almost gifted Darren Kelly’s side a second goal.

A miscued ball from Jason Mycoe allowed debutant Elliot Rokka to drive in on goal but the Tranmere Rovers loanee arrowed wise of the mark.

Hyde danger-man Max Leonard came close to extending their lead six minutes into the second half but his powerfully shaped free-kick from distance whistled just wide.

The travelling fans were up in arms moments later as they protested for a penalty kick after Mycoe cleared the ball away from Luke Porritt.

The Tigers started the second forty five strong and they thought that had a second when Max Leonard headed Janni Lipka’s free-kick in but the flag was waved immediately for offside.

Taddy responded superbly and started to put the league leaders under a sustained amount of intensified pressure.

The likes of Chris Howarth, Aiden Savory, Billy Whitehouse and Casey Stewart continued to get into brilliant areas but the trigger remained un-pulled.

A huge roar came from the Taddy faithful when Casey Stewart drove forward into space but the tricky attacker couldn’t sneak past the towering figure of Tyrone Gay.

The visitors were defending very well as the Brewers threw absolutely everything at the Tigers.

Sheppeard’s lightning quick pace was causing serious problems as ever and the 18-year-old full-back drove all the way to the by-line before his pull back was just cut out.

And then minutes later, the electric full-back Harry Sheppeard marauded down the left-wing and was hauled down just outside the penalty box.

Nevertheless Conor Sellars’ free-kick was too strong evading everyone which in the end summed up Albion’s afternoon.

Hyde had one final chance on the break to grab a second goal when substitute Dom McHale ran clean through but Ingham stopped well.
