Aiden Savory’s tenth minute opener was the difference at the interval before Joe Pugh doubled Albion’s lead with a sublime free-kick.
Tom Corner’s forceful flick all but sealed the victory before substitute Josh Greening and a second for the aforementioned Corner rounded off the result.
Brewers boss Michael Morton made a couple of changes to the Boxing Day defeat at Scarborough Athletic as Adam Baker came in along with Joe Pugh who was handed his first start for the club.
Taddy almost found themselves a goal to the good inside the first sixty seconds of action in 2018.
Lawrance Hunter’s free-kick initially dropped to Josh Barrett who’s strike was well blocked before Adam Baker and Joe Pugh failed to force over the line.
Just as the home side were ruing the squandered chance, Brighouse went straight up the other end and also went close.
Josh Barrett’s loud offside appeal fell on deaf ears and a lovely dummy set Aaron Martin in behind but his low effort across goal was stopped by Michael Ingham.
The next big opening in the game was in fact taken though as Aiden Savory stabbed in his 10th goal of the season in minute number 10.
Chris Howarth’s deep cross wasn’t cleared by Town and a scuffed clearance fell at the feet of Savory who pounced on the chance.
Credit to the attacker who quickly put to bed his miss at Scarborough by getting back in amongst the goals.
The Brewers were looking in control as the rain continued to patter down at the i2i and Tom Corner went close to doubling the lead after 25 minutes heading narrowly over from a corner kick.
Nevertheless Michael Ingham in the Taddy goal was by no means a passenger as his handling had to be absolutely spot on to keep hold of Iwan Heeley’s fiercely whipped free-kick.
The visitors threatened again from a set-piece after half an hour as Adam Field rose highest at the back post on a corner but could only head onto the outside of the post.
But back came the Brewers with Adam Baker forcing Christopher Butt to push away from goal with a well struck hit from 22 yards out.
Another chance quickly came and went for Morton’s men as the hard-working Aiden Savory showed great desire to keep the ball in play before curling onto the head of Joe Pugh who could only glance just wide of the mark.
Michael Ingham was determined to start 2018 with a clean sheet as he showed top draw reactions to tip Aaron Martin’s header over the bar at the start of the second half.
This crucial tip was closely followed by a second goal for Taddy.
Joe Pugh lined up a free-kick 22 yards out and executed it impeccably curling up and over the wall kissing in off the post leaving goalkeeper Butt with no chance.
It looked as though Albion were going to cruise to victory, and that is what happened in the end but Brighouse would have been sick of the sight of Michael Ingham who again pulled off an excellent save to keep out Johnson.
If the contest wasn’t over already, it was in the 62nd minute as Joe Pugh turned provider on this occasion crossing into Tom Corner who out-powered Christopher Butt to force home a header.
Brighouse’s best chance to find a consolation goal came fourteen minutes from time after hitting Albion on the counter-attack.
The ball eventually found Ferdinand Annor at the back post who set himself and fired on target only to be thwarted by the foot of the big Irish stopper.
As the outcome was a certainty at this point, Taddy scored two more to add gloss to the victory.
Number four came five minutes from the end as Michael Ingham’s side-winding kick skidded in behind to Aiden Savory who’s back-heel somehow found it’s way to substitute Josh Greening and he did the rest coolly sliding under the keeper on his luscious left foot.
And then in the first minute of stoppage time Tom Corner netted his second of the contest after Savory flicked on and set the striker away before caressing into the far corner.
