An injury time winner from Adam Baker saw Taddy defeat ten man Glossop North End and make it three wins on the bounce.

The course of the contest took a turn inside the opening quarter of an hour as Mike Connor was sent off on his North End debut.

The Brewers hit the home side with wave after wave of attacks before the breakthrough eventually came as the clock struck ninety.

Josh Greening's corner kick somehow found it’s way to the back post where an outstretched leg from substitute Adam Baker sparked the brilliant celebrations.

The late goal confirmed Albion’s first ever victory at Surrey Street and in addition made it three wins on the bounce.

Manager Michael Morton made a single change to the team that beat Clitheroe as Michael Ingham was back in goal.

On a nippy afternoon in the Peak District, Albion should have been ahead much earlier, after just three minutes to be precise as Aiden Savory was sent through but he couldn’t beat goalkeeper Paul Phillips after being slid clean through.

Taddy got off to a determined start putting a stamp on the contest from the outset as Conor Sellars was next to test Phillips with a free-kick.

The Brewers continued to press for an early goal and almost got it through capitalising on some hesitation at the back.

A short header back gave Tom Corner the chance to chase and the top scorer nipped in ahead of the keeper only to prod over the bar.

Then a minute later came the moment that changed the game as a contest.

Glossop were awarded a free-kick before Aiden Savory touched the ball on and was incidentally caught by Mike Connor who was intending to clear the ball.

The referee took his time and then brandished a red card to Connor, much to the home fans’ fury.

This decision only rubber stamped Albion’s dominance as the fancy dress folk of Bully from Bullseye, a Mexican and a Cowboy to name but a few cheered their side on.

Jason Mycoe, Corey Roper and Josh Barrett were being allowed to have the ball in space by Glossop who were looking to hold their shape and stay compact.

Taddy found themselves in somewhat familiar territory after losing out to the ten men of Ossett Town on Halloween so were rightly cautious.

Nevertheless the Brewers kept probing and came close again half-way through the half when Lawrence Hunter’s cross was glanced just off target by Josh Greening at the near post.

It felt like it was only going to be a matter of time before Taddy broke the deadlock as Phillips’ clearance only cannoned into a defender but Murray couldn’t get enough contact on his flick goalwards.

Less than a minute later and Phillips was beaten but Corey Roper’s low drive whistled a whisker wide of the mark.

That man Paul Phillips ensured that the two sides went in level at the break as he held Tom Corner’s strike after the number nine surged inside.

Half-Time: Glossop 0-0 Taddy

Taddy kicked off the second half and continued where they left off in the first as Aiden Savory did superbly to dig out a cross which incidentally flew over the keeper but no yellow shirt was on hand to tap in.

It was pretty much attack vs defence after the sending off with Jason Mycoe, Conor Sellars, Cam Murray and Corey Roper continuing to get on the ball and look for a way of breaking down Glossop’s stubborn barrier.

Towering defender Courtney Meppen-Walter was more often than not the man clearing the danger for the Hillmen but he almost turned into his own net after Savory headed across goal, but just over it went.

Incidentally another good chance came and went from the resulting corner as Josh Barrett rose highest only to head narrowly wide.

Conor Sellars tried his luck with a second free-kick from just outside of the penalty area but the diminutive midfielder struck the stanchion on this occasion.

When the home side did spring a rare counter attack, Josh Barrett’s blistering pace quickly extinguished the danger as the Albion stalwart poked away from the pacy Oyibo.

As aforementioned, Michael Ingham was back in the Brewers goal after returning from Houston on Thursday morning and thankfully he had very little to do.

Callum Chippendale’s curling free-kick towards the top corner was well read and caught by the Northern Irish stopper.

Taddy continued to knock at the door but everyone’s hearts were on their mouths with two minutes to go as substitute Ben Deegan went to ground asking for a penalty, only for the referee to make more friends by booking the forward for simulation.

Into the last minute of the ninety and it was oh so close again for Michael Morton’s men as Hunter curled in a superb cross to which Josh Greening’s clever flick was well tipped over by Phillips.

However, from the resulting corner Albion struck gold and finally found the back of the net.

Adam Baker was the hero coming off the bench to poke in at the back post which lead to a mass pile-on with the travelling Taddy Army over the moon after finally making their dominance count.

Incidentally this was Adam Baker’s first goal on his return to the club and it was a massive one at that.
