A brace from Tom Corner looked to have sealed the win for Taddy but a stoppage time equaliser from sub Steve Hall saw the points shared.

In the typical Manchester rain, Tom Corner gave the Brewers the lead after half an hour. Conor Sellars’ curling cross was flicked on and into the top corner by the frontman.

The Bloods drew level two minutes into the second half after they pounced on a Tad mistake in midfield and Liam Caddick found the bottom corner.

But Corner netted his seventh of the season on the hour mark.

It was another deft header, Greening the provider this time from an in-swinging corner kick.

The contest was not short of controversy though as midfielder Corey Roper was shown a straight red card for a challenge on Dylan Smith, just 20 seconds after coming off the bench.

As Albion fought admirably with 10 men, it looked as though they were going to see it out, but in the first minute of stoppage time, Droylsden pounced on a mistake once again.

Joel Dixon’s scuffed clearance allowed substitute Steve Hall to poke into the back of the net.

Taddy were left furious after the final whistle as they were adamant that they should have had a penalty kick as Corner’s shot was blocked on the line but the referee waved away and it ended a point a piece.

Michael Morton made one change to the win over Kendal as goalkeeper Greg Hartley came in for his debut.

It was an entertaining start to the match with both sides playing out from the back and playing attractive football.

There was plenty of space in behind for both to exploit and that’s just what Corner did inside ten minutes.

The tall forward surged down the right and almost picked out Sellars or Savory.

Droylsden had the first noteworthy effort at goal as full-back Shaquille Antoine-Clarke dribbled all the way up to the penalty box before striking narrowly over the bar.

Taddy’s attacking prowess was starting to cause the home side problems as Greening threaded a ball in behind which allowed Tom Corner to outmuscle the defender and get his shot away but he couldn’t beat Branagan in the Droylsden goal.

Fear not though as a matter of minutes later Taddy did have the lead and it was that man Corner.

Conor Sellars checked back on the left-hand side before hanging up a cross into the box and Corner cleverly flicked up and over Branagan and into the top corner of the goal.

The travelling Taddy army were in fine voice making for a great atmosphere at Butchers Arms.

Greg Hartley was looking a safe pair of hands between the sticks for the Brewers holding any shots and kicking well.

Half-Time: Droylsden 0-1 Taddy

When you have a lead at half-time, you always look to keep it tight for the first 10-15 minutes but Albion were unable to do this as Droylsden equalised instantaneously.

Pete Davidson turned into trouble in midfield and in an instant it was in the back of the net as Liam Caddick coolly caressed into the far bottom corner.

This didn’t seem to faze Morton’s side though as they retook the lead in the 61st minute courtesy of that man TC again.

He made a run to the near post and effortlessly glanced in Josh Greening’s corner.

With the half ticking by speedily, Taddy started to sit in and try make it more compact and difficult for Droylsden to play through them.

And they were doing just that, but the contest took a turn thirteen minutes from time.

Corey Roper was on the pitch for all of twenty seconds before referee Maskroy issued a straight red card to the midfielder.

It came after a 50/50 with Dylan Jones and Roper won the ball but the man in the middle was unhappy with the follow-through.

Taddy dug in immensely for the final portion of the contest and looked to be on track for maximum points as four minutes were added on as the stopwatch hit 90.

A long deep ball into the Brewers box was headed up into the air by Birthday boy Andy Milne but a sliced clearance from Joel Dixon allowed substitute Steve Hall to eventually stab into the net.

With a man advantage, the Bloods, well, smelt blood and fancied a winner.

But with that being said, it was Taddy who could have won it deep into added on time.

Substitute Jason Mycoe intercepted possession in his own half and set Tom Corner clean through on goal with all bar two Droylsden men pushed up front.

Corner, on a hat-trick, raced through on goal down the right-hand side, rounded goalkeeper Branagan but forced himself slightly too wide to shoot.

Nevertheless he dribbled back into a more central position before pulling the trigger and seeing his strike ricochet off two defenders.

The Tadcaster players were apoplectic as they felt it came off a hand, and it certainly looked that way too.

Droylsden tried to counter immediately with Albion protesting but the man in the spotlight blew time on a thoroughly entertaining encounter at Butchers Arms.
