Tadcaster Albion bounced back from the opening day defeat in emphatic fashion to thump Ossett Albion at the i2i stadium.

Aiden Savory netted a first half hat-trick at Ings Lane which put the Brewers in complete control with only half an hour on the clock.

Josh Greening chipped in with a brace either side of the break before Danny Frost and Tom Corner also got it on the act in the eye-catching rout.

Manager Michael Morton made just one change to the opening day loss at Ramsbottom as Josh Greening came in for Conor Sellars.

Last year's Player of the Year Josh Barrett has continued where he left off last season and the central defender almost opened the scoring inside five minutes but saw his header drop just wide.

Fourteen minutes were on the clock when Taddy did make the breakthrough though.

Cam Murray's hung-up cross was contested by Tom Corner and Aiden Savory reacted quickest to the loose ball beating goalkeeper Liam Flynn before sharply turning into the net.

Taddy were turning the screw as they doubled the lead less than five minutes later through that man again, Aiden Savory.

Josh Greening surged forward before checking back and curling a divine ball to the back post where Tom Corner headed bravely beyond Flynn and Savory made complete sure by tapping in on the line.

The Brewers were in complete control of their first home game of the season and weren't showing any signs of relenting as they were awarded a penalty in the 25th minute.

Tom Corner was clattered in the area leaving referee David Jones with no choice but to point to the spot.

Corner and Greening both regularly take spot-kicks but they kindly allowed Savory the chance to complete his hat-trick and this he did after confidently stroking into the top corner.

Ossett were not being allowed a sniff at Taddy's goal but having said that James Eyles was almost gifted a golden chance after a short back pass gave the striker hope but Michael Ingham soon extinguished the danger.

If the contest wasn't already over, it was on the stroke of half-time as Tadcaster netted a fourth goal.

A couple of perfect flick-ons by Pete Davidson and Savory set Josh Greening away clean through on goal and as ever the forward showed the ultimate composure to simply slide into the back of the net.

Half-Time: Taddy 4-0 Ossett Albion

The Brewers didn't resort to resting on their laurels as they kept up a similar tempo and intensity in the second half and made it five soon after the restart.

A lovely give-and-go between Aiden Savory and Josh Greening saw the latter see his first strike well saved by Flynn but stroked in the rebound and his second of the night.

Substitute Danny Frost looked determined to make an impression when he came off the bench and he almost set up number six but his pass across goal was agonisingly out of reach for Cam Murray, who was also excelling, amongst many others.

With little under twenty minutes go, Taddy added a sixth and it was that man Frost.

It was a classic Danny Frost goal too; played in down the left by Murray, jinked down the outside, cut back in quickly on the inside and struck powerfully into the near post before wheeling away with both arms raised.

Ossett responded almost immediately by netting a consolation goal with substitute Samuel Robinson squeezing a low drive into the bottom corner after a slight lapse in concentration conceded possession.

Tom Corner worked tirelessly all evening and you could tell that he was dying to get on the scoresheet himself, especially after Savory ‘pinched’ one off him in the first half.

Thankfully the towering striker did find the back of the net in the final few minutes.

Pete Davidson, who was a dominant figure in the middle of the park all night long, drove into the oppositions half before sliding Corner in behind whose early strike caught Flynn off-guard finding the bottom corner, much to his delight.

All in all it was a top class performance from the Brewers and one that was certainly appreciated by the Taddy faithful.
