A brace from Max Leonard helped play-off hopefuls Glossop see off the ten man Brewers.

It was always going to be a difficult test for Billy Miller's side travelling across to Derbyshire on a Tuesday night against a Glossop side that boasted the best home record in the league.

Miller didn't have a great deal of choice in terms of selection with Carl Stewart (ill), Josh Greening (ill), Andy Milne (knee), Michael Ingham (foot), Jason Mycoe (knee) and Josh Barrett (ankle) all missing.

And the tough test became even tougher after just four minutes when Max Leonard impressively volleyed into the roof of the net from the edge of the penalty area.

The lively Leonard looked to kill off Albion early on as the striker headed inches wide of the mark inside six minutes.

After a vibrant start from the home side, Taddy's first meaningful attack of the game came after fifteen minutes when Gregg Anderson almost got on the end of Jono Greening's out swinging corner.

Leonard was at the centre of attention again nine minutes later when the forward was clean through on goal and went down looking for a free-kick under the sustained pressure of Gregg Anderson.

More often than not the referee will give these kind of incidents but on this occasion, Mr Tomes felt there was nothing in it.

Nevertheless North End were two goals to the good on the half hour mark when James Hurtley headed in at the near post from a corner.

Taddy are yet to win on the road in 2017 but they did sharpen up and come out of the blocks with greater urgency and purpose in the second forty five.

Fatlum Ibrahimi's marauding surge from midfield and shot which whistled inches wide gave the travelling Taddy fans encouragement and something to shout about.

Powerful frontman Tom Corner looked threatening as ever when given the service but if you don't take your chances when on top in a game you will get punished, and this was most certainly the case.

Four minutes after being shown a somewhat soft yellow card, full-back Josh Grant was then given his marching orders after receiving a second yellow for an alleged clip of the heels on Leonard.

The Tad players were adamant that the foul in question was outside the penalty area but nevertheless Max Leonard stepped up and drove into the back of the net to all but seal the three points.

Despite going down to ten men and having a gaping gap down the left-hand side, Taddy continued to fight and actually still looked promising when venturing forward.

New signing Piteu Crouz in particular looked a live wire when entering the fray.

Nimble and skilful on the ball, Crouz showed his prowess a number of times beating his man with ease.

Albion's endeavours reaped a reward sixteen minutes from time when Tom Corner lashed in his 15th goal of the season after North End failed to clear.

New man Crouz sparkled again shortly after. Having evaded the sandy section of the pitch, Crouz sized up and beat the defender with some silky step overs but the eventual shot was claimed by Graham McLachlan.

The Brewers certainly played with more freedom and intensity in the second half but in reality the damage was done in the first half from a very good Glossop North End side.
