Tadcaster Albion beat a strong Glossop North End side after goals from Josh Greening and Conor Sellars inside the first twelve minutes

Josh Greening got The Brewers off to the perfect start opening the scoring after just 26 seconds before Conor Sellars headed in a second 12 minutes later.

Glossop’s Ben Richardson responded for the Hillmen half-way through the first half with a looping header but a goalless second half saw Taddy take all three points.

Miller & Heath named an unchanged team from the one that saw off Radcliffe Borough on Saturday with the bonus of welcoming Tom Corner back into the squad after injury.

To say that The Brewers got off to a fast start is an understatement. Conor Sellars plucked a high ball out of the sky and hooked over the top of Glossop’s high back-line to which Josh Greening pounced upon and raced through on goal, rounded goalkeeper Matthew Cooper and rolled into an empty net after just 26 seconds.

Taddy were off to a flying start against the 2015 FA Vase finalists and they were showing no signs of letting up as they almost made it two after four minutes. Sellars’ lofted corner was headed powerfully on target by Gregg Anderson but Matthew Cooper saved on the line and a mixture of Moran and Parker hooked clear.

Taddy’s frenetic start was counter-acted by The Hillmen who carved out a hat-trick of good chances of their own as Eddie Moran and Jamie Rainford both headed narrowly off target.

However The Brewers were having no problems in finding the back of the net as they doubled their led after just 12 minutes played.
Rob Youhill’s clever cross was remarkably headed past Cooper by the smallest player on the pitch.

Tricky winger Conor Sellars sprung way above Martin Parker before powering a header past the North End number one making it an even better start.

The entertainment value on show was a definite 5 stars as the goals kept on coming. Glossop reduced the deficit to one in the 23rd minute as Mohamud Ali’s dangerous cross was headed into the far corner by Ben Richardson.

Taddy however felt the goal shouldn’t have stood with Jono Greening claiming a two-hand push on his back.

The goal gave Glossop further confidence as they pushed for an equaliser in an action-packed first-half. Max Leonard drove at Jason Mycoe and was adamant that he should have been awarded a penalty kick but referee Darren Whatling waved away the protests.

It was a case of you attack and then we attack in the first half as The Brewers themselves threatened to run away with it.

Conor Sellars’ driven cross was headed goalwards by Jimmy Beadle which beat goalkeeper Matthew Cooper but full-back Martin Parker came to GNE’s rescue and hoofed clear.

Michael Ingham is proving to be a monumental signing in goal for Taddy as he kept his side in the lead with a terrific save at point blank range to deny Ben Richardson his second of the evening.

After a tough start to his Tadcaster career, Rob Youhill is really growing in confidence and putting in impressive performances on the right-hand side of midfield and the former Darlington man arguably put in his best display yet on Tuesday night beating his man and crossing time and time again.

The aforementioned Youhill almost made it three all on his own after breaking at pace from a Glossop corner.

The corner was headed away by the Gregg Anderson, Josh Greening touched it to Youhill and the speedster was away. He flew down the right-wing, was too quick for Ali, bared down on goal and fired just off target.

The TSC were in fine voice as ever and they almost had a third goal to shout about on the stroke of half-time. Conor Sellars with some more wizardry like play.

Matthew Cooper denied Sellars his brace on two occasions as half-time beckoned. First of all he had the strength to hold off his man and bend a beauty from 23 yards searching for the top corner but Cooper brilliantly clawed away.

Sellars then showed off his spring once again as he flew way above Moran and powerfully headed on target to which Cooper held well.

Into the second half and The Brewers continued where they left off with Youhill involved once again. The winger raced clean through down the right-hand side, closed in on goal and opted to try and pick out Josh Greening but the attempted square pass was cut out. A strike directly at goal may have been the best option.

As expected, the second half wasn’t quite as action-packed and open as the first half but the chances were still prominent for both sides.

Jason Mycoe netted a long-range rocket in last week’s defeat at Ossett Town and the midfield maestro was close to another to add to his collection. He picked the ball up 25 yards out and struck sweetly on target which was too hot to handle for the goalkeeper but he jumped on it at the second attempt before Josh Greening could poke home.

As time quickly ticked by, Glossop ramped up the pressure as they hunted for an equaliser.

Taddy’s backline were determined to hold out however with Andy Milne and Gregg Anderson heading everything, clearing everything and being in the right place at the right time every time.

Michael Norton came increasingly close on a couple of occasions as Glossop were vying for their third consecutive 2-2 draw.

With ten minutes to go Michael Norton hit the woodwork with a glancing header at the near post which fortunately for The Brewers rolled across the face of goal and away to safety.

Three minutes later saw Norton go close again as he struck a ferocious half-volley from the edge of the penalty area to which Michael Ingham got down brilliantly to hold.

The final chance for Glossop to pinch a point came deep into stoppage time and it was a chance that was never allowed to materialise.

Jamie Rainford must have thought he had just Ingham to beat as he threatened to burst clean through on goal but Andy Milne recovered with an absolutely outstandingly timed tackle to immediately halt the attack.

In the end Taddy held on to their second 2-1 home win in the space of four days which sees them rise up to 6th place in the Evo-Stik Division One North.
