On Saturday the Brewers make the short trip to Pickering Town looking to keep top spot in the NCEL Premier Division as well as ending the Pikes’ impressive six match unbeaten run.
Taddy go into the game on the back of a gritty 2-1 victory over Barton Town Old Boys at the i2i stadium last Saturday. Two fellow promotion chasers faced off in midweek as Handsworth Parramore drew 1-1 with Cleethorpes Town. That means, The Brewers stay top of the league; a point clear of Handsworth with a game in hand, two points clear of Bridlington with three games in hand, six points clear of Worksop with two games in hand and six points clear of Cleethorpes with one game in hand. Taddy have thirteen cup finals to go as they look to make it into the Evo-Stik Division 1 North.
Both sides will undoubtedly be massively up for the encounter on Saturday with Paul Marshall and former Brewer players looking to prove a point against their old side.
Pickering currently sit in 8th place in the NCEL Premier Division. A win for the Pikes could see them move up into 5th place if other results go their way.
They are currently in superb form under former Taddy boss Paul Marshall. In their last six matches they are unbeaten after beating Nostell, Garforth, Clipstone, Parkgate, Pontefract as well as drawing with at home to Parkgate.
Ged Dalton is the Pikes’ top scorer with 14 closely followed by Ryan Cooper (13), Lewis Taylor (11) and Joe Danby (10). Pickering are set to name several former Taddy players in their side such as Pete Lawrie, George Bissett, Nathan Kamara, Calum Ward, Mitch Hamilton and Denny Ingram. Hamilton is an interesting one as he is actually a Tadcaster Albion U21 player.
In terms of Tadcaster top scorers, their seems to be a mini battle going on as captain Jimmy Beadle is on 16 with Adam Baker and Josh Greening locked at the top on 17 for the season. The Pikes’ defence led by Denny Ingram will have to be bang on it from the off if they are going to stop ‘BGB’.
The two sides met for the first time this season back in October at the i2i stadium in which The Brewers cruised to a comfortable 4-1 victory. In front of a terrific 579, Taddy stormed into a 4-0 lead after just 33 minutes. Two penalties from Jimmy Beadle, and a goal each from Josh Greening and Adam Baker sealed an easy three points for a Taddy side who were in top form.
Team News: No new injury concerns for Billy Miller to deal with, Adam Baker is set to come back into the starting line-up after being rested against Barton Town Old Boys.
Prediction: Pickering Town 2-3 Tadcaster Albion – Plenty of hype around this fixture, it’s expected to be a lot closer than the first meeting between the two sides this season. I predict a tight but entertaining match at the Recreation. Adam Baker to return to the side with a brace.
We are running a mini bus for the match, but if you are making your own way there the postcode is YO18 7DB. #tadallover
Elsewhere in the division; Bridlington Town travel to Maltby Main, Worksop are away at Liversedge and Handsworth Parramore host Clipstone.
