Tadcaster Albion played out their second 2-2 draw in the space of four days, this time away at Armthorpe Welfare.
Kieran Benson put the home side ahead right on the stroke of half-time with a low drive into the near post. Taddy as expected came out firing in the second half scoring two goals within the first twenty minutes. Nick Black levelled the match with a decent finish from a clever Greening flick and then Matt Heath smashed the Brewers in front with a towering header at the back post.
The plucky home side bit back and equalised with fifteen minutes to go as James Walker headed into the roof of the net.
Taddy boss Billy Miller made two alterations to the side that started the dramatic draw at Clipstone last Saturday with Dan Clayton and George Conway coming in for Adam Baker and the injured Liam Ormsby.
Welfare haven't had the best start to the 2015/16 campaign accumulating just one point before Tuesday night's clash with Tadcaster but it was the Doncaster based side who had the first effort at goal as Joe Lumsden struck cleanly from 20 yards which whistled just wide.
Taddy had the majority of possession in the first half and came extremely close to breaking the deadlock in the 12th minute as a Jordan Armstrong cross was headed only as far as Dan Clayton who calmly chested it down and struck powerfully towards the far corner which was met by a brilliant save by Will Biggs in the Armthorpe goal.
From the resulting corner Tad came close once more as Josh Greening's floated corner found Matt Heath at the back post who headed downwards but just the wrong side of the post.
With both sides battling hard in what was a fairly even contest in the first half it was Will Biggs, the Welfare goalkeeper, who kept things goalless again with an outstanding save. Dan Clayton was making only his second start of the season and he looked lively in the first half and came closest just before the half hour mark. He received the ball in an inside left position squaring up the full-back, jinked and struck a sweet shot which looked destined for the top corner but Biggs again was equal to it with a super fingertip stop.
Three minutes later and The Brewers had another good chance to take the lead as George Conway chipped onto the penalty spot where Nick Black lurked and there was only one winner as he rose like a salmon but got just too much on his header.
Credit to Armthorpe though, they also had some really good chances but Jonothan Mirfin and Joe Lumsden both pulled their strikes narrowly wide. However having said that, the home side took the lead right on the stroke of half-time as Kieran Benson stroked a low shot past Stevens.
Half-Time: Armthorpe 1-0 Tadcaster Albion
Just like on Saturday at Clipstone, Taddy had to put in an improved second half to get back into the match and that once again is what they did. It was one a piece just seven minutes into the second half as Paddy Miller made a lung bursting run down his familiar left side but he wasn't used and Josh Greening played a lovely flick in to Nick Black who half-volleyed past Biggs.
Taddy then took the lead in the 64th minute as Josh Greening curled in his second assist of the game from a corner which found Matt Heath again at the back post who powered in a header.
The lead never looked comfortable though and Armthorpe came extremely close to equalising immediately after as Gary Stevens pulled off a brilliant fingertip save to deny the skipper Craig Aspinall.
Stevens was called into action again four minutes later as Aspinall once more got in behind and this time he was one-on-one but the Taddy stopper did brilliantly to block the shot.
Armthorpe however did draw level with fifteen minutes left on the watch as James Walker reacted quickest to a header off the crossbar and headed into the roof of the net himself.
Tadcaster had fifteen minutes left to get all three points and they were pushing extremely hard for it and the terrific travelling taddy fans thought they had the crucial third goal right at the death as it was Matt Heath again who rose highest but his header kissed off the post and was scrambled away as the points were shared.
