The Brewers stunned by a resilient Parkgate in the dying seconds

TEAM: Stevens, Armstrong, Heath (c), Stimpson, Miller, Baker (Sub Claisse), Ormsby, Beadle, Thornton (Sub Conway), Black (Sub Barrett), Greening
Subs not used: Milne & Bissett

After a first half which was dominated by Tad, this was overshadowed by a second half Parkgate fightback who netted twice in the last fifteen minutes to steal the victory at the i2i stadium on Tuesday night, the latter being scored in the final seconds of the match.

Manager Billy Miller made just the one change to Saturday's opening day victory over Maltby Main which saw Danny Stimpson take the place of Andy Milne.

The Brewers started the game just as they started on Saturday, fast fluid football giving their opposition no chance of getting near them and they were going for it from the get go. In minute one Nick Black was determined enough to beat his man down the right-hand side and deliver and cross to Josh Greening however his shot was blocked and Jimmy Beadle's follow up effort was off target.

Nick Black has impressed the taddy faithful since joining from Garforth Town and just moments later the striker raced through on goal just right of the six yard box, he closed in on goal, evaded the tackle from behind and fired a shot goal wards only for the Gate goalkeeper to beat away and out of danger.

Eight minutes in and Albion were still completely in the ascendency dominating the match as the visitors could barely get out of their own half. Another chance was just around the corner as Josh Greening was fed through over the top where he controlled the ball and composed himself before not thrashing towards the target but cutely lobbing one to the back post where Joe Thornton was stretching in but just couldn't manage to get his head on it.

Nine minutes later and the dominance did indeed pay off. Former Railway men Jordan Armstrong and Adam Baker were linking up brilliantly down the right-hand side and this time Armstrong played a lovely one-two with Baker to then advance into the penalty area and get barged over for a penalty kick, it was almost identical to the penalty we were awarded on Saturday. Also just like Saturday Liam Ormsby stepped up and calmly tucked it away to give the Brewers the lead in the 18th minute.

The away side did grow slightly into the game after several long throw-ins looked to cause the Taddy defence problems but an Oliver Graham shot which was easily saved by Stevens was the closest they had come so far.

The home side still looked incredibly dangerous on the front-foot and really should have made it goal number two in the 38th minute as Adam Baker checked back inside on his run and played a lovely delicate through ball to match Josh Greening's intelligent run however the shot was straight into the goalkeeper's arms.

With just two minutes to go until the half-time interval the away side got themselves an equaliser out of the blue. Oliver Graham received the ball right side of the penalty box and fired a shot across the goal and into the top corner.

However Gate certainly weren't level for long, less than sixty seconds in-fact as straight up the other end Taddy went and snatched the lead right back. A goal kick from Stevens wasn't deal with by the Gate defender as his header went backwards and up in the air to which Josh Greening pounced on like a panther and finished nonchalantly as he always does.

Half-Time: Tadcaster Albion 2-1 Parkgate

Into the second half and Jimmy Beadle looked to extend the Brewers' lead two minutes into the period with a curler from 25 yards which was easily pushed away in the end.

Tadcaster were still pushing forward to get a crucial third goal in the contest and they really should have been 3-1 in the 53rd minute. Paddy Miller looks up and fires a perfect pass over the top to Josh Greening who matches the pass with an equally impressive touch and goes for the lob over the goalkeeper however unfortunately it drops inches wide of the goal.

This chance wasn't to be rued as much as potentially as nine minutes later and it was 3-1 as Nick Black flicked in from a corner kick.

However this comfortably two goal cushion did not last long and seven minutes after Black's goal Parkgate pulled one back. A free-kick was whipped towards the back post, nodded across goal and headed in from close range by Sam Foulds.

After a double substitution at 3-1, it all went wrong as five minutes later and Parkgate were level at three a piece incredibly. Oliver Graham was by far Parkgate's best player, Taddy just could not handle him and this time he broke the offside trap and went one-on-one with Stevens and the attacker dinked over the stopper and into the back of the net.

With less than a minute to go it looked like Parkgate were going to return to Rotherham with the win as Ryan Johnson raced clean through on goal and also chipped Stevens but this time the ball rolled slowly towards the goal and in the end it meandered two inches wide of the target.

However this did not matter as the visitors did snatch the win with virtually the last kick of the game as Johnson got in behind and simply squared the ball to Oliver Graham for his hat-trick and his team's win.

Full-Time: Tadcaster Albion 3-4 Parkgate

Congratulations to Parkgate, credit where credit's due, they came with a game plan and they executed it with a good show of clinical finishing, all the best for the season.

Two games at the i2i stadium to kick-off the season and the net has been hit sixteen times, seven of those being in the wrong end, disappointing result but it has to be put to bed as our FA Cup journey begins on Saturday, away to Hebburn Town.
