Match Preview : Tadcaster Albion v Parkgate, NCEL Premier, 10/8/15, 7.45pm.
On Tuesday evening, we play our second league game of the season at home to Parkgate. On Saturday, The Steelmen played at home against recently relegated Brigg Town and had an impressive 3-0 victory to have a flying start to their league campaign.
Last season, the game at Tadcaster was a 2-0 win for The Brewers with goals by Carl Stewart and Josh Greening, attendance 285 ( can we beat that this time ? ) . The game at Parkgate was a 4-1 win for The Brewers through a pair from Nick Thompson and one each from Paddy Miller and Calum Ward in front of a crowd of 144. Parkgate finished last season in 16th place in the league and have been playing in the NCEL Premier league for the last eight seasons. After our 6-3 win over Maltby Main, fingers crossed for another high scoring exciting match on Tuesday.
In the NCEL on Saturday, our major competitors had mixed results. Cleethorpes Town went down 1-0 at home to Nostell Miners Welfare and Barton Town Old Boys lost 2-1 at Thackley. Worksop Town set the pace with a 6-0 win at Athersley Recreation and Handsworth Parramore had a solid 3-0 win at home to Pickering Town. A number of them have winnable games midweek so it is very important that The Brewers continue their winning start. Please support the team if you can, just £5 for adults.
