For the second time this season the Brewers take on Ossett United at the i2i Stadium, tonight though it’s in the West Riding County Cup.
Both teams made hard work of progressing past NCEL sides in Round 1 of the competition. Ossett left it extremely late, until the 88th minute to be exact as Corey Gregory cancelled out Andrew Horbury’s opener for Glasshoughton Welfare before Marcus Day’s stoppage time strike saw the newest football club advance into Round 2.
The Brewers weren’t giving that much of a scare as first-half goals from Billy Whitehouse and Lamin Colley were scored either side of a Jake Thompson strike for the visitors. However the win was made absolutely sure of in added time when Casey Stewart slid home.
Looking at the league table, Albion and United are closely matched with just two points separating them and when they met in the league back in mid-September, it was an unforced error that was the difference.
In a game of few chances, Aaron Hardy’s back-pass lacked less allowing for Adam Priestley to pounce upon and round Michael Ingham.
The winners of tonight’s tie will host Brighouse Town in the Quarter-Final of the competition.
Team News: Joe Lumsden, Jason Mycoe, Josh Barrett and Aaron Hardy all set to return to the starting line-up. Corey Roper may feature for the first time since the start of October.
