Sticking with the theme of ten, that’s how many minutes it took for the deadlock to be broken at the i2i Stadium. Aaron Hardy’s deep cross was cleverly headed over the goalkeeper by last year’s top scorer Aiden Savory.

The Brewers were dealt a huge blow soon after though when experienced defender Paddy Miller collapsed to the floor in a heap before having to be helped off the pitch. Miller joins Joe Lumsden and Harry Coates on the injured list although they both are close to a return.

With Albion dominating proceedings as expected, Savory doubled their lead smashing in the rebound after Adam Baker’s instinctive initial effort was well saved.

A second was followed by an immediate third as Lamin Colley controlled in the box and drove through two green shirts into the bottom corner.

The Magnets stopper responded with two decent saves to deny Davidson and Colley however goals number four and five came before the half-time whistle.

A brilliantly whipped cross from left wing-back Jack Walters put it on a plate for Adam Baker to guide into the gaping net from close range.
Baker then turned provider two minutes later as his teasing delivery was diverted into his own goal by a Magnets man.

The York Saturday League side did carve out one chance in the opening 45 as the number 7 was sent clean through on goal but he could only fire straight at Ingham after cutting back on Ellis Barkworth.

This was certainly proving good finishing practice for the Brewers with the start of the season just over a week away. It took fifteen minutes of the second half for the scoring to continue with the introductions of substitutions playing a large part.

Casey Stewart’s divine vision and dink over the Magnets defence set Mitch Langton clean through on goal before giving the keeper the eyes and sliding into the back of the net.

After missing two good chances previously to complete his hat-trick, Aiden Savory eventually did just that with 20 minutes to go. Chris Howarth chipped into the former Farsley man who superbly shifted onto his weaker left-foot and rocketed into the opposite corner leaving the keeper with no chance.

The goal of the night however was number eight courtesy of magic feet Casey Stewart after firing an exquisite strike into the top corner from 25 yards.

The quick feet of Stewart proved to be too much once again moments later when the Magnets keeper brought down the player in the area. Billy Whitehouse stepped up and made it nine.

Magnets’ best moment of the match actually came in stoppage time when they put together their best move of the match and struck the inside of the post. They were a matter of inches away from a consolation goal but nevertheless Albion went up the other end and made it double figures with Casey Stewart heading in his second of the night.
