Second half goals from Joe Dale and Liam Flanagan sealed the Robins’ place in the final where they will face last year’s winners Farsley Celtic.
Albion were vying for their second successive appearance in the County Cup Final after losing on penalties last year but a spirited display by Town dispatched the lacklustre Brewers.
Michael Morton made five changes to the win over Glossop with Tom Young, Andy Milne, Lawrance Hunter, Conor Sellars and Tom Corner all coming in.
Taddy started on the front foot with new winger Billy Whitehouse close to warming the cockles on three minutes after cutting inside and lashing narrowly wide of the mark.
Whitehouse then turned provider five minutes later when his cross was met by the head of Casey Stewart but goalkeeper Hagreen pushed the deflected attempt over.
Selby’s first effort at goal came on twenty minutes when a miscued clearance by Papprill allowed Charlie Clamp to fire low and hard on frame but Tom Young got down well to stop the shot.
This started the Robins’ surge in confidence as less than a minute later Joe Dale found himself in on goal after Ryan Woodhead slid the striker through but the fast recovery by Tad’s back-line quickly ended the attack.
Selby continued to look dangerous on the counter though as Taddy U21 captain Ryan Woodhead was next to break through but his left-footed strike was also held by Young.
As the cup tie ebbed a flowed, Taddy pressed and came close to the opening goal in the final ten minutes of the half.
Conor Sellars’ floated corner was headed wide by the stretching Fraser Papprill but Tom Corner may have been in a more favourable position just behind the defender.
Liam Flanagan had a chance on the break for the visitors but again the shot was weak and comfortable for Young.
With the half coming to a close, Aiden Savory had three goes at breaking the deadlock.
Firstly the former Farsley man stung the hands of keeper Paul Hagreen in the Selby goal with a fizzing left-footed strike but the clearest opportunity came four minutes from the interval.
Savory anticipated and pounced upon Tom Corner’s flick-on but Hagreen was off his line sharply to thwart the shot.
Billy Whitehouse was looking lively every time he got the ball on the right wing and it was his positivity and vision which led to Savory tamely firing on target which drew the half to a close.
The Brewers went even closer at the start of the second half when Conor Sellars sent a free-kick from distance off the crossbar.
Former Leeds United winger Billy Whitehouse continued to impress down the right as his hung-up cross to the back post was perfect for Corner to attack but Hagreen was determined not to be beaten.
Hagreen’s save proved to be a massive one as the visitors opened the scoring on 53 minutes.
A miscued header from centre-back Fraser Papprill allowed Joe Dale to run in on goal and fire into the back of the net.
The Robins were massively up for the cup tie, something that can’t be said about the Brewers unfortunately.
Christian Fox’s side were taking advantage of a lacklustre Albion as Charlie Clamp went close to doubling the lead firing narrowly wide.
Despite performing way below par, Taddy were still carving out chances as Aiden Savory’s teasing and curling cross was delicately flicked on by Stewart but Hagreen somehow managed tipped onto the post.
Former Selby man Casey Stewart was starting to get on the ball in between the lines and in dangerous areas as the half wore on and it was his through ball to Whitehouse less than a minute later which opened the visitors up but the winger blazed over the mark.
Just as Taddy were starting to put their opponents under some serious pressure for the first time, Selby opened up a two-goal lead.
Liam Flanagan beat Andy Milne to a bouncing ball before powering up the by-line and seeing Josh Barrett’s clean tackle canon back into his path allowing for a simple tap-in.
With the tie all but over, Albion hit the woodwork for a third time as Conor Sellars’ cross sailed over Hagreen and dropped onto the top of the crossbar.
The result never looked in doubt from this moment on as Selby professionally saw out the win for the remaining twenty minutes.
