On Tuesday night The Brewers make the trip to Rotherham to face Parkgate in the Third Round of the NCEL League Cup.
Taddy played their first game in 33 days on Saturday against Brigg Town which resulted in a 3-1 victory courtesy of a Jimmy Beadle hat-trick. The match before that was in fact against Parkgate which finished in a 1-1 draw.
This is The Brewers’ first match in this season’s NCEL League Cup Competition and it may give boss Billy Miller a chance to experiment with his squad ahead of Saturday’s massive league clash with title rivals Worksop Town, which is now being played at Selby Town’s ground.
The Steelmen currently sit in 19th place in the NCEL Premier Division, just six points off bottom placed Liversedge however they have played several games more than others around them.
In January, Parkgate have lost two and won two in the league beating both Pontefract Collieries and Garforth Town away from home as well as losing to Worksop Town and Brigg Town.
Parkgate have been labelled as Taddy’s ‘bogey team’ by a few recently after The Steelmen took all three points at the i2i Stadium back in August as well as holding out for a 1-1 draw in December. Albeit The Brewers did have 14 shots on goal that day and should have won the game but Parkgate defended well as a unit, made it difficult and held on for a point.
Team News: Jason Mycoe is a doubt after receiving a nasty cut on his face in the win over Brigg. Changes are expected to be made; Andy Milne, Connor Sellars, Nick Black, Carl Stewart and Josh Barrett are all in contention to start.
Prediction: Parkgate 1-2 Tadcaster Albion – Parkgate were difficult to break down when The Brewers could only manage a draw back in December’s league meeting however I predict Taddy to sneak through in this one.
We aren’t running a coach for the match, but we hope to see plenty of you in attendance, your postcode for the ground is S62 6LA. #tadallover
