On Saturday, The Brewers play Colne FC in the FA Cup at the i2i Stadium. Colne and The Brewers have both made a great start to the season scoring plenty of goals to lie second in their respective league tables, so it has the potential to be a great game. Both sides have quality supporters, so it hopefully will be a noisy afternoon. Colne FC reached the 2nd qualifying round of the F.A Cup in 2004-5, so need a couple more victories to equal that achievement.
In the last round of the F.A Cup, The Reds had a comprehensive 5-0 win against fellow North West Counties League Premier team Barnoldswick Town, the same team that The Brewers beat 5-0 in last years competition. The goalscorers that day were a hat trick from Carl Stewart and one each from Calum Ward and Mitch Hamilton. The winners of today's tie with travel to either Scarborough Athletic or Consett AFC in 2 weeks time. I will predict a high scoring draw on Saturday, maybe 2-2. Safe journey home to all fans. Why not bring a friend ? , it is only a fiver for adults.
Ones to watch: Danny Boyle & Jay Hart
Boyle is a clinical striker and is the obvious threat to the Brewers' defence. Last season the forward found the back of the net 36 times in 46 appearances so certainly knows where the goal is.
Another one to keep your eye out for is attacker Jay Hart. Hart can play on the left wing or as a striker and is another dangerous outfit. He has the ability to go both ways with pace and power as well as having a rocket of a left foot. The forward has started this campaign in top form scoring 7 goals in just 4 matches.
Best
Keith Handley.
