Emirates FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round

Tadcaster Albion comfortably saw off Northern League side Hebburn Town on their own patch in the Extra Preliminary Round of the Emirates FA Cup to get back to winning ways. Goals from Jimmy Beadle, Paddy Miller and a penalty from Liam Ormsby saw the Brewers to a 3-1 victory which now means they will face North West Counties side Colne FC at home on the 29th August in the next round.

Albion boss Billy Miller made three changes to the disappointing midweek loss to Parkgate with Joe Thornton, Danny Stimpson and Adam Baker all dropping out for differing reasons; Andy Milne, George Conway and Josh Barrett coming in.

It was a roasting hot day in Tyneside, perfect for the magic of the FA Cup and with the TSC out in force as per usual it was a fantastic day out even before kick-off with the fans, captain chicka (don't ask) and even the club's chairman in full voice.

As the tie got underway with the Brewers wearing their white away strip it was Taddy themselves who started on the front foot and went close just two minutes in as Paddy Miller's low fizzing free-kick from the right made Town goalkeeper Gary Rogers get down quickly to his left and push to safety.

Albion were knocking hard at the door early on as the famous Tadcaster Albion Supporters Club jeered their lads on from the touch line and in the 6th minute it was almost 1-0 as Josh Barrett's pace down the right hand side allowed him to smash a cross low down the corridor searching for Josh Greening however the striker stretched and just couldn't divert on target.

However, just five minutes later and the mighty Taddy were ahead and what a way to take the lead. Josh Greening shifted the ball out wide to Nick Black who then cut inside his man and rolled it towards the midfield area where Jimmy Beadle was lurking thirty yards from goal and he struck across it first time and it rocketed into the top right hand corner via a glance off the post, incredible strike.

The home side were really struggling to keep the ball and when they did eventually find themselves in space the shots were always not close to Stevens' goal.

Taddy were making things happen and looked dangerous as always on the front foot and in the 19th minute Paddy Miller received the ball in his much familiar left-back position, looked up and backed himself and rightly so as he knocked the ball round the opposing full-back and sprinted round the other side of the player to then pull it back to Josh Greening who's strike was just off target.

Just four minutes later and with the Taddy faithful begging for a second goal they almost got it and should have got it. First of all you have to praise the referee for playing a good advantage which allowed Jimmy Beadle to get his shot away which fortunately was blocked into the path of Josh Greening who found himself just inside the penalty area one-on-one with the goalkeeper but his side-footed shot was well saved.

Hebburn then created their first chance of the match as Kyle Morris cut inside and bent one just wide of the goal.

Half-Time: Hebburn Town 0-1 Tadcaster Albion

An early goal at the start of the second half was the perfect scenario for Billy Miller's men, and that is what they got, actually they netted twice in the opening thirteen minutes of the half to all but wrap up the tie.

Taddy's second goal of the day came from a free-kick on the right-hand side as Paddy Miller's wand of a left-foot glided one into the perfect position, that perfect that everyone missed it and it ended up evading all and nestling into the back of the net to double Albion's lead.

Just seven minutes later and it was three and it came from another set-piece. Nick Black's power and determination drew the opposing defender in leading to a foul and a penalty. Liam Ormsby stepped up and Mr.Cool himself stroked the ball into the bottom right corner sending the keeper the wrong way to make it three penalties in three games for the effervescent midfielder.

3-0 to the good and it felt like the tie was done and dusted at this point however Hebburn did manage to get a consolation goal back as Josh Allan deflected Shaun Reay's shot away from Gary Stevens' vision and into the back of the net.

Full-Time: Hebburn Town 1-3 Tadcaster Albion

A superb professional performance from the Taddy lads as we get back to winning ways.

In the next round of the FA Cup Tadcaster Albion will welcome Colne FC from the North West Counties to the i2i stadium on the 29th August, this means the away league fixture against Worksop Town will be rescheduled.
